I agree Spezza would be far more effective as a winger IMO..... It worked for Marleau....
^^^ a line of Michalek - Spezza - Ryan would finish every game -2.
I find the talk of putting Zibanejad on the wing incredibly frustrating. The guy is a ****ing centre, and he does a really good job at it. Did you not see how good he was at C with Michalek and Conacher? How he instantly made them both look way, way better?

Can we agree on having Zbanejad at C now? Why do we even argue on that one, he is clearly better there. Move Spezza down to 3rd line C, because he can't carry this team any more, Turris is having a heck of season so play him more..if Spezza is unhappy with this arrangement, then address it in the off season. We need wins now, even that may not get this team in the playoffs.

I would send Da Costa down (or trade him), and bring Hoffman up:
MacArthur - Turris - Ryan
Conacher - Zibanejad - Michalek
Greening - Smith - Neil
Hoffman - Spezza - Condra

Id bring up peterson before id bring up hoffman again and Id out him on Spezzas wing...

None of these players have been playing to their full potential lately, and i believe we should give them another chance to play together. If we can get this line going, just imagine our top 2 lines. Macarther,turris,zibby(?) and milo,spezza,ryan.
If those 2 lines consistently produce, our playoff chances will be much much higher.

I wouldn't mind seeing this at all. Turris and MAc have been driving that line an d having success without much help from Ryan. I imagine they'd do well regardless of who mans the other wing.
Can't hurt to give it a try.

Because they'd be stuck in their zone the entire game. Every one of them is a classic "passenger". They can score goals and are dynamite offensive players, but they need someone on their line who can get the puck through the neutral zone (like a Turris, Zibanejad, or MacArthur. Hell, even Smith or Condra works if you don't care about scoring from that wing). Spezza used to be that guy, but he definitely isn't this season.
I think it would be an unmitigated disaster to put these 3 together. Try Ryan on a wing with Michalek and Zibanejad maybe, but don't stick him with Spezza unless you've got Zibanejad or MacArthur on the other wing.

Plugging Milan in with the Mac - Turris duo gives it more jump, less dump. Will get Milan going offensively.
Ryan and Spezza can be playmaker - shooter, while Smith can clean up Spezza's messes.

If you're going to put Ryan with Spezza you'll need a guy like Alf on the other wing. Unfortunately we don't have that type of guy on our team right now.

Replace that 4th line with:Hoffman - Da Costa - Stone, give them 4th line ice time, and it won't be the worst line ever.
