Wasn't Ottawa supposed to be dominant this year?

I don't see scoring depth on Ottawa
They have to tighten up defensively

They're 7th in the league, I would consider that dominant.

Don't get cocky, any game now Clarke MacArthur will start carrying them into the promised land.

I didn't even notice Tampa is 8-3...wtf? Wonder how they'll do once they start playing some real good teams.

Well, their 8 wins are against

    Buffalo x2 (once in OT)
    Florida x2 (one shootout win)
    L.A.
    Minnesota
Chicago x2 (one OT win, one shootout win)

So I'm not sure how to gauge them. Their GF and GA numbers are the same as ours pretty much. They've lost to the Bruins twice (including one 5-0 spanking) and lost to Pittsburgh.

I watched a little bit of their games and their D still seems to be a bit shoddy, but they have a great coach in Jon Cooper, the guy who led Norfolk to the Calder Cup championship in 2012. Their offense is fantastic though and Filp is doing a good job thus far replacing Lecavalier.

They look good so far but I want to see how they do against Montreal, Ottawa, and other Western teams.

That too. Lindback is looking like he'll never be more than a back-up at this point. Though Bishop is also pretty inconsistent dating back to his St.Louis days, so I wouldn't put too much stock into him just yet.

If they did it to pair Vanek with JT, I think they will be disappointed. To be completely honest I don't believe they will mesh together well. Still, they got a good player, hopefully they will manage to re-sign him.

Vanek isn't as much of an upgrade from Moulson as some would assume. Tavares-Vanek has got to be the slowest 1st line pairing in the NHL.

I agree. Like they already have Tavares who is PPG and Moulson was near PPG consistently scoring 30 a year. It is very difficult to improve on those numbers.

The NYI may be best served at playing Tavares and Vanek on separate lines, spread out the offense some more. Vanek with Nielsen could be great and possibly end up out produce Tavares and whoever he plays with.

The Leafs win, hold Malkin to one point, Crosby to no points, and the Habs get shutout at home by the Sharks. That's what I call a great Saturday night. GLG!

Have a tough time figuring out what the Isles are trying to do here. This has potential to backfire, bigtime. If they wanted to load up in order to try and make a push this year, would make more sense if they kept Moulson and moved a prospect and pick for Vanek (which really should be the price as he is a UFA). Crappy thing is, this could end up really helping a divisional rival.

The other thing about Buffalo taking Moulson is that they can parlay him for more draft picks and/or prospects. I hate to say it but it's a smart move by the Sabres. And it wouldn't be the end of the world if they kept and re-signed Moulson.

They are probably going to move Moulson for a picks/prospects and same thing with Ryan Miller and Steve Ott. A proper rip it down and build it back up. They will probably want to keep this going for next season and take a run at getting McDavid. Hope it doesn't happen, as I don't want McDavid in our division.
