Not surprised to see no Matteau jr, thought maybe Storm Phaneuf might get an invite.

Clapperton attended the Flyers prospect camp, but he wasn't signed, so his rights aren't owned by an NHL team.

Phaneuf's young age and his lack of experience work against him.

Notable exclusion is Maxime Lagace, a Dallas Stars prospect who played in the Canada-Russia series this summer. He has had a tough start to the year with the PEI Rocket (5.19 GAA and a .837 save percentage).

For goalies, Francois Tremblay, Domenic Graham and Alex Dubeau previously participated in Hockey Canada's goalie camp in 2011 and aren't in the mix this time.

Another exclusion might be Raphael Bussieres, a Minnesota prospect who was selected in the 2nd round last summer, but has had a pretty average start to the season thus far with Baie-Comeau.

Lol, Bussieres, 2nd round

Lagace was in this game last season, but so far Bibeau has been solid for the Rocket.

How is this Matt Murphy kid? Never heard of him until this announcement.

He's very sound defensively and has made a nice jump this season. Good size, strong, hard working and makes a good first pass. He isn't the flashiest player but gets things done and is reliable. He has 7 assists in his first 10 games of the season and has a neutral +/- on a struggling Val D'or squad.

All good points although I believe the most notable exclusion is Frédéric Gauthier who should have made the team over Henley or Andrews. His two-way play and size could have made him a nice fit on any of the top-4 lines.

What could the lines looks like?

Huberdeau - MacKinnon - Drouin
Carrier - Danault - Dea
Tesink - Paquette - Hudon
Mantha - Andrews - Clap/Beauvillier/Henley

Ouellet - Fournier
Murphy - Culkin
Oligny - Melindy
Brouillard - Racine

Not sure on goalies. Marcoux will probably get a start.

Just spitballing

Just got my tickets for the Guelph game:)

I went to one of these in 07 and had a blast, hopefully Yakupov is able to come.

just an fyi- Russia will have the U20 players split into 2 teams (1 going to the 4-nations U20 tourny) and the one coming for SS.

Historically, any jrs playing in KHL will either STAY in KHL and not go to either (Kuznetsov), or will just join the team to Sweden for a short tournament (Arzamastsev last year). Unlike last few years there are more KHL U20 eligible players. So that really screws up any clues.

Having said that, if the lockout is still on, Yakupov and Kosov will probably stay in KHL. There's no real point of them going to these tournaments. Slepyshev won't be there since he is injured and will only be starting to come back by then.

I expect the Russian teams to be full of younger and more of MHL players, joined by CHLers like Grigs and Kucherov (if he is back). So probably expect guys like Tkachev, Buchnevich, Nichushkin, Shalunov and so on. But right now, there are WAY too many possibilities for rosters and who will go to which tournament. Lots of options

Good 2-way defenseman. According to me, he's the best available defenseman from the QMJHL for the next draft.

Thanks guys! Sounds like an interesting prospect, will definitely be keeping tabs on him now. Knew he had to be somewhat decent to be an add to this roster as a '95.

IMO Brassard will get the start the first game because of how he has been playing the last couple of weeks.
