The new thresholds indicate an increase of only 1.36% in Average Player Salary from '09-'10 to '10-'11.

Remember, that's what the Hawks would have gotten if they leave Hjarmalsson walk last summer.

Interesting thing to me is the level that needs to be reached to garner 4 1st round picks, ala the Vanek offer sheet from 2007.

If it does hit $7.8 million, then only Ovy, Sid, Malkin, E. Staal, and Nash (I take out B. Richards because he's likely to sign a deal worth less than his current $7.8 million cap hit) would be the only player's who cap hit for next season would be worth 4 1st round picks.
