- Being ranked 1st = 30 points, 2nd = 29 points, and so on...
- ISS doesn't include goalies in its general ranking, so take that into consideration.

Top-30 rankings included:
- Craig Button's top-30, as of April 8th
- First-round projection from anonymous Eastern Conference Scout
- First-round projection from anonymous Western Conference Scout
- ISS Top-30, as of March 15th
- Future Considerations draft rankings, as of March 18th

In a way, I agree with you. However, when you include Button you are allowing for the fact that certain real GM's see the world in a different way than most of us e.g. Snow, Lombardi

Exactly. Button's view should be considered as likely as any existing GM in the league. They will all have varying lists and most of us that look at this from an external standpoint would more than likely think those lists are full of strange ratings.

Not too many surpirses besides:

Nathan Beaulieu above Siemens, Bartschi and Armia

But the 2011 REALLY is a crapshot after the top 6-8 really...

How do this year's top forward talents compare to the likes of Tavares, Stamkos and Hall? Thanks.

In terms of sheer talent, I would say only Nugen-Hopkins is at that level but far less developed than any of those guys. He doesn't have the physical package to go along with that skill set and head.

In terms of quality I would add Landeskog too due to his big-time character, leadership qualities and physical play. His pure skill potential is behind Huberdoue but Huberdoue is weak and not ready physically (see Nugen-Hopkins)

Huberdoue also I think has big-time potential, could be better all around player than Nugen-Hopkins due to his high end skill and constant hustle. Tall and lanky at 6-2 and seems to be still growing at 17. He could combine a power forward game with dangler's skill set.

Strome will be one dimensional but as long as that dimension includes 30+ goals and 90 pts it is all good. Tim Connolly skill set with more grit is what he is..minus the injuries?

If he hadn't suffered a concussion due to cheapshot via Hishon he would have won OHL scoring title at 17.

Couturier if he could ever muster up some intensity can dominate at the next level I believe even with his lack of top gear acceleration.

Good stuff.... though I'm not sure your point system is even necessary. It's still just averaging out everyones rankings. You just gave yourself extra math to do. ;)

Can someone rank the top 5 forward prospects in terms of potential? Thanks.

These are there high-end comparables:

RNH - Datysuk
Couturier - Physical Eric Staal
Huberdeau - Better Giroux
Landeskog - Mike Richards (W)
Strome - Jeff Carter?

I'd say drop Button's list because it's complete garbage.

Just because its "out there" doesn't mean you drop it. Former GM and made some great picks for Dallas when he was our director of scouting.

I'm positive theres scouts who have jobs right now with lists we'd flame hard too. Its professional opinion, definitely keep it.

Eric Staal is more physicaly involved than Couturier. Sean's board work and balance is amazing though. He would work so well with talented wingers. Gonna be a beast at 6-5 230 lb in the NHL even if he is a 25 goal 60 pt two way 2nd line center IF he plays with more intensity.

I was looking for drop offs in average valuation, there's a clear drop between Hamilton (8th) and Saad (9th); 21 points = 4,2 places. Another drop off is between Peumpel (21th) and Musil (22th); 18 points = 3,6 places. Nothing earth-shattering, but it might give some indication about the depth of different groupings in the first round.

Central Scouting comes out with their's on Monday the 11th.

According to this it's Tuesday the 12th. Not sure which info is correct.

It has been moved to Monday due to the service for Mr. McGuire being held Tuesday.

Great work.

But why Button and not BMac?

McKenzie's list is a bit out of date at the moment. I'll include his final draft ranking, if I decide to make a new listing at the end of the season. Would be interesting to combine several top-60's, like McKenzie's, RLR, ISS and FC.
