Adam Larsson
Based mostly on WJC viewings, also scouting reports and stats
Strengths:
Very complete game. Good skater, good size, not afraid to play the body, strong positionally, composed with the puck, good outlet passes, shows signs of untapped offensive upside.
Weaknesses:
Jack of all trades, master of none? Not as mean and physical as defensive dmen in the Regehr/Foote mold, and seems more solid than dominant offensively (think Ohlund/Bouwmeester offensively, not Lidstrom). If he ends up as an Ohlund type of player, would that make him a good pick in the top 2-3?
Brandon Saad
Based on a couple OHL viewings, also scouting reports and stats
Strengths:
Big kid, strong on the puck, good skater, nice shot, fairly high overall skill level. Can show flashes of a young Bobby Ryan with less exceptional hands/creativity.
Weaknesses:
Despite being big, not very physical, even against guys much smaller than him in the OHL, and a questionable motor when it comes to hustle plays like the all important battles for loose pucks. Definitely more of skill/finesse player than a physical/high energy type, but is he good enough to play that role in the NHL?
