you might want to add the two 16 yr olds on the MJ warriors who made it all the way to the WHL finals. Ehrhardt was one of their better defenceman and Bast score the teams first playoff goal in the Brandon series also 2 goals in less than a minute against the Broncos

Vladimir Nikiforov and James Marcou should be added to your list

Nikiforov and Marcou are both barely 5'6" and were both passed over in the 2006 draft. It will take a lot for them to get picked in 2007 as far as I see it.

Its way too freakin early to be posting about anyone being a lock for top 5 next year.

I hear ya. I remember Brent Bilodeau, Adam Colagiacomo, Vlad Evseev, Evan McGrath etc. being "locks" to be top five picks a year before their drafts too.

Couture and Espo are early North American favourites to go high, as are Petrecki, Katic, Gillies, Grant, Sutter and Ellerby among others, but there will be plenty of movement throughout the season. Some kids will impress, others will disappoint, and teams usually put much more stock in a players' draft year than the season before.

The 2007 Canadian class looks much stronger than 2006, with as many as 10 Canadians early favourites to be top end 15 picks.

I completely agree with your sentiments about it being much too early. However, I DO enjoy doing my homework and looking forward to the draft each year, so despite it being much too early, keep the information flowing.

I think they are bigger than that if they put up the numbers it will happen for them.If they dontit will not happen for them or any one elseyou have to play the game regardless of your size.Watch for these two they have been succesfull at every level they have played

Colby Cohen

Went to high school with his brother and graduated when he was a freshman.

Nice player, but lacks anything close to a mean streak. Also, what i usually hear from his teamates is that he has a bad attitude and, besides his play, isn't very popular with most of the team. He's still young though, and his attitude better change or else he isn't going to have fun at BU.

In summary, he is your typical 'not very talented but his rich daddy payed for all the best for him since he was three' type player.

That sort of thing is the one problem i have with hockey. I've known alot of guys who were alot more naturally talented than Cohen, but for various reasons(work, school, money) couldn't just play hockey all the time like he did.

2 guys that could really move up the charts this year are two Kingston Frontenacs players.

Forward Luke Pither and goaltender Darryl Borden. Both will be given greater roles this season and it looks like Borden will be given the number 1 job in the not to distant future. Danny Taylor will most likely be moved if they can acquire a solid overage D-man.

Pither has put on 10-15lbs of muscle this summer and will continue to improve. This kid has the offensive skills and creativity to be a first round pick. He's 6"0 probably 175 now and he will at least double his point totals this year.

Another kid who will go alot higher than expected right now will be Akim Aliu. The kid is a Todd Bertuzzi clone and it looks like he's shaken the hazing incident. I see him putting up some good numbers this year 50 pts and putting himself into the late first early 2nd round.

Can't wait for the U-18 World Cup.

ive heard that about cohen too, apparently he got banned from the junior flyers when he was younger bc of attitude reasons. but he still has proven to be a talented offensive defenseman, regardless of how he got there. he put up alot of points at selects, with a good season he could sneak into the 1st round.

nikiforov has a good shot at being drafted. i highly doubt marcou will be drafted. hes small, and didnt put up impressive numbers last year. at that size, you have to be a really dynamic offensive player to really catch scouts attention.

I do not think any of these players are overagers. Here are their DOB:
Louie Caporusso - 6/21/1989
Alexei Pianosi - 2/22/1989
Mike Hoeffel - 4/9/1989
Justin McCrae - 10/30/1988
Brett Bruneteau - 1/5/1989
Luke Pither - 4/26/1989
Matt Fillier - 10/5/1988
Raffael D'Orso - 2/2/1989
Dustin Sylvester - 1/5/1989
Colton Grant - 3/20/1989
Matthew Kang - 11/9/1988
Anthony Peluso - 4/18/1989
Adam Estoclet - 3/24/1989
John Muse - 8/1/1988
Max Pacioretty - 11/20/1988
Nick Bonino - 4/20/1988
Andrew Glass - 7/14/1989
Derrick Pallis - 9/28/1989

If Muse is born on August 1st 1988, he's an overager, but I never saw him considered to be picked in the 06 draft, so i'm sure it's just a typo. Also, Pallis DOB on your list would make him eligible for the 08 draft. The cut-off is sept. 15.

Saint Paul, MN: With Johnson, Kessel, Mueller, Okposo, Sneep, Forney and Fischer, it looks like players with Minnesota ties are very well represented in the first round. In your opinion, is there any other Minnesota born or bred sleepers who might move up to be selected in the 2nd or 3rd round? Also, who are the American born players to keep an eye out for 2007?
Kyle Woodlief: I think Fischer's teammate on the Apple Valley blue line corps, Kyle Medvec, is a real darkhorse sleeper, and could conceivably even slip into the end of the first round, though the 2nd round is far more likely. Also, at Red Line we really like power winger Dave Grun from White Bear Lake H.S., but I don't think many NHL teams are as high on him as we are, so I'm not sure exactly where he'll be selected. The top U.S. players for next year are Nick Petrecki, who should be a top 5 overall pick, and for me, Patrick White, another Minnesota high schooler from Grand Rapids H.S. could jump up and become a top 3-5 overall pick as well - so once again, Minnesota is well represented.

I always forget the rules of posting quotes so if this is wrong sorry. But White should be up there.

Isn't Patrick White going to play in the USHL next year... anyone know with who?

woodlief has him as a potential top 3 overall for next years draft. that seems very very high, anyone have any info on him? game style, size, team? i had heard of him being ranked high, and potential late 1st rounder, but this just seems pretty high for this player.

i like van riemsdyk and jon blum as guys that could go top 10 from the usa. anyone have any info on matt white an 89 from california who was a high ushl pick. i hear he is going to cushing, but is starting to bloom into a real top end prospect

Thanks guys for all the names, I think I have put all players on the list. I've got a question regarding James O'Brien: Is he going to Mínnesota this year or is he staying with the NTDP? I know that 89-borns won't attend college until 07-08, but orangeandblack has O'Brien listed as going there this year.

OBrien will be redirecting EJ passes to Okposo in the slot.
