Good group of players. One question: Is this where they will play next season? If it is, you have to change james van riemsdyk's club, he'll be attending University of New Hampshire for 2006-07.

Don't forget: KYLE TURRIS! Oodles and oodles of skill and talent...I haven't seen Backlund...I have seen Esposito and Couture...but Turris is special...really special--once he fills out you may be looking at another generational talent...

The gophers will have a good class. With O'Brien, Fairchild and Hoeffel all coming in. Another gopher recruit Patrick White, has come up alot of late. He is another HS kid. Playing at Grand Rapids. But in the HS tourney he almost single handedly won it all. GR came in second. They beat some great teams along the way and White really showed he has all the tools. I read somewhere, i think, that Red Line had him as high as 3-5 overall.

We'll see about the top 5 next year but I was underwhelmed by the 2006 crop top to bottm and I believe it was an average at best draft year. However, at first glance the 2007 crop is going to be a very deep one with strong year from Canada, and the U.S.A. There also seems to be some European talent with Backlund and Voracek mainly.

How could Turris not be in the top 25.

Kyle Turris had a great season but remember he played Tier II Junior, NOT CHL hockey. Put top 89's from the CHL like Esposito Katic Boychuk & Couture in Tier II and see what they could do....
At the 2006 World Under 17 against his own age group and many CHL players, Turris did NOT stand out at all.
However, he is still talented no doubt.

GEt off it--Keith Seabrook (albeit a D-man) was a 2nd round pick in '06 from the same BCHL team as Turris ...I saw what I saw with my own eyes--if a talent like Turris isn't top 5 material, then I should resign my scouting bona fides --just because he didn't shine in the summer of '05 doesn't mean he didn't blossom in the following season so that by the spring of '06 he REALLY DID SHINE=lots!!!
I know talent when I see it--he's got it;I'm more dubious about the hype on Esposito (let's see how gooid he is without Radulov this season).

Its way too freakin early to be posting about anyone being a lock for top 5 next year.

Add Oscar Möller (Chilliwack Bruins) and Joakim Andersson (Frölunda).

There's Nick Petrecki, whose the top rated defenseman. He's 6'3 205lbs, is a physical force
but doesn't have the offensive tools yet.

I believer Llewellyn, Kane, van Riemsdyke, Malone (2nd overall in QMJHL draft in 2005) are eligible.

Petrecki is probably going to need 2 years at Boston College before he comes out. I think you'll see how slide before the draft starts. Van Riemsdyk is definitely going to slide, no way he is a high pick. Kane, if he plays at London of the OHL could have a huge year and really jump in the draft.

Saint Paul, MN: With Johnson, Kessel, Mueller, Okposo, Sneep, Forney and Fischer, it looks like players with Minnesota ties are very well represented in the first round. In your opinion, is there any other Minnesota born or bred sleepers who might move up to be selected in the 2nd or 3rd round? Also, who are the American born players to keep an eye out for 2007?
Kyle Woodlief: I think Fischer's teammate on the Apple Valley blue line corps, Kyle Medvec, is a real darkhorse sleeper, and could conceivably even slip into the end of the first round, though the 2nd round is far more likely. Also, at Red Line we really like power winger Dave Grun from White Bear Lake H.S., but I don't think many NHL teams are as high on him as we are, so I'm not sure exactly where he'll be selected. The top U.S. players for next year are Nick Petrecki, who should be a top 5 overall pick, and for me, Patrick White, another Minnesota high schooler from Grand Rapids H.S. could jump up and become a top 3-5 overall pick as well - so once again, Minnesota is well represented.

I always forget the rules of posting quotes so if this is wrong sorry. But White should be up there.
