Except not...Backstrom won't fall to #8 and theres NO way the Bruins draft a defenseman. If Backstrom is available for the Bruins, they will probably take him or Okposo.

Nice attempt but...I think you have Mueller too high, Brassard and Backstrom too low, and Okposo too low..

If Backstrom's there when the Isles pick, I'd be absolutely floored if the Isles pass. Consider their scouting's preference for Scandinavian players.

Jordan Stall > Mueller
Not necessarily. Mueller has more points in a lower scoring league. Both have good size/strength, are above average skaters for their size and are very complete. Other than his bloodlines, there's no clear advantage at the moment for Staal. Given Mueller's supposed leadership abilities and that he's having a very good playoffs right now, he could conceivably jump Staal in the standings.

Okposo will be a Wild player if he is there at number 10. They like homegrown talent (Thelen, Cullen, Westrum). AND they need a guy like Okposo on the team. And they also need a frickin defenseman. Stoner, Thelen, Stokes, Belle, Burns are all fine and dandy but Thelen, Stoner, Stokes, and Belle are a year or two or three away from the NHL.

Interesting post. :D

If they draft a defenseman it better be Erik Johnson, otherwise they desperately need a good young forward, preferably Backstrom if he is still available at #6...

Im quite sure Jesse Joensuu is going to get drafted in the first round.
I'm not.

I would also take Mueller over Staal, and would not be surprised if Backstrom falls that far, he seems to be more of an HF fascination than anything else.

And I love how people throw the "this will never happen, my team will never take this guy or won't ever pass on this other guy." Yeah, I'm sure Sasha Pokoluk was NEVER gonna be a first rounder and Blake Wheeler would NEVER be taken on the top 10, and Robbie Schremp would NEVER fall out of the top 20, etc. When are people going to learn that you cannot predict what's going through GMs' heads and you cannot predict exactly what's going to happen in the draft?

There's always hope. The Canucks could trade up, or he could even fall to them. Brassard was ranked 15th in the last ISS ranking, so it isn't so unreasonable.

My feeling on Mueller is because he is considered a "safe pick" he will fall to about 11-15ish.

As for the guy's comment on Backstrom, all scouting services seem to have him in top 5(it seems that everybody has a concensous who the top five are, it's after that things change up).
