He is a steal because the talent he brings doesn't equal the hype he is getting. All I keep hearing about him is that he is hard headed and that he is some issues so he will drop out of the top 10 and probarbly top 12...and whoever picks him will be lucky.

Why don't you just wait until the day you can watch him play before saying he would be a "huge steal" at the 18th spot.

So this is not the Selänne who beat Tyler Wright in his rookies season? Or overcame serious injury before his NHL career. We have to remember that he wa a different player when he still had the fire.

Ya i like Pinneault too, but really i dont think Thelen plays much like Bobby Orr, doesnt have that speed that can take him end to end, i see him like Mara or maybe even Ed Jovanovski

Yeah, it was my boldest comparison. I couldn't come up with a player that has elite sniper skills and an impressive skillset in general, while being a poor skater. So I decided to drop the skating part and then it's Havlat that comes the closest if you ask me. Havlat is also more agressive, especially in terms of cheap play, so that's another difference between the two.

Would Ribeiro be an ok comparison?

Nobody's saying anyone will be the next version of these players. They're just comparing potential, talent, and skillsets. Obviously these players may or may not pan out. So someone says Thelen is similar in style to Jovanovski, does that mean Thelen will be the next Jovanovski? Maybe, maybe not, but he has the potential to be. It's up to the player to put it all together.
