The New Jersey Devils are pleased to announce that they have selected Defenseman Kyle Wharton with the 22nd overall pick.

On a side note, Wes O'Neill continues to drop....

Wow, I've seen O'Neill go everywhere from 9th to whatever pick it is now... seems people have very divergent opinions.

Just goes to show what I have been thinking for some time . . . after maybe pick 5 the difference in talent between say 6 and 25 is not huge, and makes this draft a crap shoot . . . Hell, after pick 2 it becomes a crap shoot, as who really knows who will go with pick 3? It makes it less likely that say washington would pay those last two picks n the first round to move up to maybe 11, or even 7 or 8 . . .why? Finally, those late firsts are maybe equal to a lower second last year, when many taken in the 2nd round would be firsts this year.

Sorry, just got back from a snowboarding trip.

The Vancouver Canucks are proud to select, from the Calgary Hitmen, of the WHL, Defensemen Jeff Schultz.

Before I pick, I will offer up the first pick of the second round in trade. Young Guns has Alvaro Montoya rated the number 3 prospect in all of 2004.

http://younggunshockey.com/monthly.htm

I am shocked that he fell this far but if anyone needs a goaltender I am looking for offers, thinking a first next year and a second this year. Any takers? Dave Bolland is also available and I am also shocked at that fall as he has been compared to Schremp as a sniper on these boards. Conversly I would offer any goaltender in our system (Caron, Chiodo, Auben) for a third round pick and keep Montoya as a one two punch with Fleury. I need to run for about three hours will wait and see if there are any offers.
