2000 Eastern QF: Pens/Capitals

Could someone please tell me why they played Game 1 in Washington, then games 2 and 3 in Pittsburgh and then games 4 and 5 in Washington? As far as I can remember, there was no event like the Columbine shooting in 1999 that changed up the Sharks/Avs series schedule. Anyone know/remember why?

Wikipedia says it was due to a scheduling conflict. This site http://www.mellonarena.com/site65.php lists all the events being held at mellon arena back then. I can't say for sure which event it was, but my guess is the WWF.

It happens once in a while. In 1996 Boston/Florida went 5 games yet finished at the same time as the 7 game series. In 2006 Dora the Explorer got in the way of Ottawa getting an earlier home date. Although in those cases the teams didn't change up the order of home games, just delayed them

Gotta wonder if this schedule changed the complexion of this series...although the Penguins had the Capitals number back then.
