MOD WARNING:

This Tank Thread will remain open for the time being, but a few ground rules.

1) Tank Posts are restricted to this thread. The GDTs still exist for the enjoyment of fans looking to cheer their team on. If you are posting in advocacy of the tank or cheering for the Canucks to lose, this is thread to do it. Doing so in a GDT will result in threadbans and/or warnings being issued.

2) Conversely, this thread is reserved for those in favour of the Tank. Any fans cheering on the team's victory who decide to troll this thread if the team does well at any point will also find threadbans and/or warnings being issued.

3) Those in the pro-tank camp are absolutely not allowed to use this thread to ridicule those who are not. The Site Rules still apply - specific or blanket insults will not be tolerated.

This is going to be very experimental. Tank Threads in the past have proven to be a lot of work for the local moderating team, which is why there has been extreme reluctance to allow one. If the above rules cannot be/willnot be abided by, this will be shut down.

For anyone not familiar with the full Site Rules including Flaming and Trolling, please see here: Terms of Service and Rules | HFBoards - NHL Message Board and Forum for National Hockey League .

Can't remember when was the last time I made an actual thread but, I think...

Benning and Weisbrod need to be fired, and both would need a restraining order that would bar them from approaching anywhere within 100 km of the team.

Green has been called out, I tried my best to give him the benefit of the doubt but him providing AR an undeserving sanctuary after last night's game is not acceptable. I wouldn't straight up say fire him (mostly because it will likely give Benning more time), but if we did, I wouldn't mind it.

Aquaman needs a heavy dose of reality.

EDIT: as some pointed out, this might not be a bad year to tank, as we only need to suffer 50 something games of misery instead of 82. I don't know how the prospect pool looks, quite frankly I don't care because us getting top 3 pick is like praying for a pink dragon for a free nickel. This is about getting Benning's fat ass out of town, and pull Aquaman back to our dimension.

EDIT2: as the mod's message said, let's keep this tight and clean, else we won't have a tank to drive anymore.

Kinda funny how a small win streak (that did not move the team anywhere in the divisional standings) has put their selling on hold. Benning really hung himself with his March 5 press conference where he claimed the team is 2-years away. How can he not be a seller if the team is 2-years away? Instead, what that press conference was was another lame attempt to try to save his job and explain away his piss poor performance.

Play Holtby more.

No no no play Demko to death so he eventually suffers a serious injury and then we HAVE to play Holtby. Then hopefully he plays so well that we have a huge "goaltending controversy" which results in Demko taking his football and going home to Cali whereupon Holtby then suffers a serious injury. Total Destruction!

This demonstrated both his shortsightedness and his exceptionally poor public speaking capabilities.

We got on a winning streak with luck and Elder God level goal tending, we must be a champion team!

Tanking needs to be part of a greater plan, which clearly Benning/Brod have no clue how to do. They are “day by day” guys, right?
We need top five picks. Should have had one last year (stupid Muller and Tofoli trades nixed that) and we need one this year. Our core isn’t complete, so tank with Holtby.

The Total Destruction tank has as its goal the selling of the team by FAQ to somebody far more worthy. The only way for that to happen is for the team to do so badly that he will get sick of his toy and sell it. As long as FAQ owns this team all is lost IMHO.

As long as FAQ owns the company, there will be zero accountability for shitty non-hockey strategic business decisions creating negative outcomes in the hockey part of the business.

The AIG believes in obfuscation, opaqueness and gaslighting.

These toxic attributes flow into all of their subsidiaries.

Obfuscation and opaqueness and gaslighting such as selling Jimbo as a "GM" with a bad habit of "running out of time" while supposedly doing his job.

A GM who for some reason is off chasing OEL, fails, has Schmidt magically land in his lap, and who doesn't resign Tanev or Stecher.

What kind of stupid bullshit amateur hour GM would purposefully anchor his team with this kind of contract?

We ducked a massive bullet here.

Imagine if Jimbo was successful....

That contract would have been killer. Another defenceman who can't defend well.

Jim is a lucky GM. He tried to trade for Lucic, tried to sign Lucic, tried to trade for Suban. Imagine this 2 trades. We have Lucic and Subban and no Horvat, Boeser and god knows what else he wanted to offer for them. How the hell does Jim still has supporters among canucks fans?

A compilation of his blunders should be placed on a billboard in Vancouver. :D

Thing is, Benning and FAQ seem to think they are actually doing a good job and apparently nothing, short of a biblical event, can convince them that they are incompetent: definition of incompetence.

If this team is happy to submerge itself in the quagmire of mediocrity, fade into obscurity, and drown in the fans' apathy,

SO

F***ING

BE IT

Let's say Montreal finishes a very pedestrian 12-12-1 in their final 25 games. The Canucks would have go to the equivalent of 13-6-1 in their final 20 just to match them in points.

Even worse, Montreal has 5 games at hand, play Ottawa 5x and a 5 game stretch against Calgary where we lose 10 points either way.

Good times.
