You could argue Mats Naslund or Chelios. Maybe even Bobby smith.

Chelios maybe, other than Naslund’s career year he was a very good player but he was no where near a top-10 player in the NHL. Same goes for Smith.

And IMO if you want to talk about being a top 10 player, it can’t just be a career year. It has to be sustainable over atleast 3 seasons.

Sure. Just saying a point could be made for them.

What was the last time we had a single player in the top 10 of the NHL?

I can only think of Price in his prime years ago.
without doing research I can;t think of any skaters who've finished in the top 20 in scoring at years end --- maybe Damphousse, Turgeon early 90s? Richer perhaps late 80s(i remember him getting 5 goals against BUF HART in his last 2 games of the season to get 50) but he didnt get many assists IIRC.

Is everyone forgetting Roy? Thats probably about it besides Chelios and Price in his best years.

Turgeon was arguably a top 10 player in his prime but we had him for such a short period of time. The 89 games we had Turgeon he scored 107 points but i think he was just outside the top 10 in scoring during that season. Damphousse was arguably almost better because of his 2 way game.

This is NHL ranked prospects not in the NHL BTW. High end surefire prospects pretty much never make this list cause they graduate right after their draft and becomes regular. Florida and Toronto have guys high in the list too.

And this is why we should not put too much stock into these rankings...

In 2015 he placed Domi first ahead of Draisaitl….who was also behind Sam Reinhart (2nd) and Sam Bennett (3rd)
Dal Colle ahead of Nylander….even our own Mike Reilly is on that list.

Look at the one of 2018 and the list makes no sense already...

I literally mentioned Roy in my post prior to the one you quoted. Lol.

The problem is we’ve always been privileged in Montreal when it comes to goalies, it’s just expected. Elite skaters on the other hand we’ve been starving for since the 70s...

Turgeon had 96 points in 80 games in 95-96, but that was 11 points back of Sergei Fedorov at #10.

Domi's stats in the CHL were really good. 102 in 57 is last year. Also won the mem cup and had a good WJHC

Edit:. Lost in the finals for men cup

Top 25 over the years :

Richer 22dn in 89-90
Damphousse 24th in 92-93
Damphousse 20th in 93-94
Damphousse 20th in 95-96
Recchi 20th and Turgeon 22nd in 94-95
Turgeon 18th and Damphousse 20th in 95-96
Damphousse 21st in 96-97
Recchi 16th in in 97-98
Kovalev 11st in 2007-2008 (most underrated season in the history of the team)
Pacioretty 21st in 2014-2015

Yup that's how bad we have been in the last 20 years. Only two top 25 seasons in 20 years. We had 10 in the previous 10 years ...

This doesn't mean jack, every year we salivate over the guys we drafted, too many to name, most of them never even make the show for a try out

It's Button and he -always- put too much weight on WJC performances for his ranking.

How many times have the 1st OA and 2nd OA been in the Top 10 scoring? Maybe that’s important.

Pk lets forget Ylonen for a minute but how useless is his article if he cannot even place Josh Brooks in our top 5.

Maybe get his name right before making fun of someone for leaving that very same person out ...
