who's it going to be?

the 15 guys left are:

Carter
Crosby
Dawes
Perry
Stewart
Tambellini
Brent
Brodziak
Burns
Colliton
Dixon
Getzlaf
Paille
Richards
Talbot

I would think that it's between Dixon, Brodziak, and Colliton for teh last roster spot, 13th forward. But that's just from what I've read, anyone else have a take on this?

BTW, I'm personally hoping Brodziak can stick around here, it'd be great to see a bit of him as an Oilers fan in a tournament like this.

2 cuts

There is absolutely no way Brodziak should be cut from the WJ camp. I watched the last intersquad game and the first OUA game and he was among Canada's top forwards. He does nothing wrong and so much right. Responsible both ways, hard working, pretty good on draws and surprising creativity. I had no idea who he was before camp, but after keeping track of negatives and positives for each player on the ice for both games, it became clear just how well this kid was playing.

Both Dixon and Colliton are possible players on the bubble. Colliton had a great intersquad game, but shone much less in the OUA game. His ability to hit and kill penalties and work hard will need to land him on the team, and in my opinion, it should be enough. Dixon did very little in both games, either on the positive or negative side of things.

On the flip side, two guys who are very mistake-prone and should be on the bubble are Brent and Perry. Both of these players are very soft, especially at getting the puck out of their own end. Perry has amazing hands, but I've never seen someone do so much to avoid getting hit... it's astounding... it's like he's allergic, he'll bail on anything and always winds up on his ass and out of the play.

Carter is another guy who did nothing in the one game I saw him play, but he should make the team ahead of a couple of the other bubble players.

I think Colliton will stay same with Dixon. I think Brent will be cut and I wouldnt be surprized if Talbot got cut.
I don't think Talbot is going to be cut... He is a real lerader type and with a QMJHL coach he will even get a longer look... and rightfully so, on his merits alone..

My guess would be Tim Brent and Dixion as the last 2 forwards.. Personally I would keep Dixion over Colliton, but Team Canada loves its role players and that is why Colliton is in the camp in the first place..

It depends on what they're looking for -- if they're looking for a shootout specialist, Perry is the guy. He has amazing moves, and can put the puck in the net consistently. He can get pushed off the puck in normal play, but on a shootout there is no defense - an ideal situation for Perry.

I don't think Brodziak should be cut - he has played very well the two games I saw (I also had no idea who he was before the selection camp). Of course, I thought Swanson should be there and he's on his way home.

I don't know if they sat the players last night that are already considered locks for the team (Paille, Burns, Carter, Coburn) or whether these players will suit up tonight.

Maybe they'll sit the other "locks" tonight and let the players on the bubble have a chance to make a last impression.

Well Paille because of his last year and Burns for his NHL experience for sure... and Coburn is a virtual lock....Carter not 100 % but probably 90 %..

Its usually the bubble guys that play more..

I wasn't expecting the Benoit and Fehr cuts so I won't be making any other predictions. I will say that Dixon is probably going to be coming back to Nova Scotia just because of the fact that Brodziak doesn't deserve to go.

Talbot isn't getting cut.

14 of the remaining 28 are WHL players. That says alot about the best junior league in the world.
You posting pointless/irrelvant things is also saying a lot about people who are fans of the 'best junior league in the world.'

Well, I'm glad Brodziak looks like a decent bet to stay. When's the next game for these guys? I heard it'll be on SN, but I forgot to listen to when it was. Thanks.

They were talking on the radio that the team captancy may be awarded to either Stewart or Brent.

I will be shocked if anyone but Paille wears the "C". Brent would be a good candidate for an "A" (assuming they don't choose someone from each league).

Brodziak must stay...

as he is one of the best two way forwards Canada has. He does so many things well and is slippery quick (not fast). Fehr should not have been cut - up against Brent; but you can't cut a NHL player released, probably on the condition he plays. Fehr is a naturally gifted scorer which I think Canada needs; he also goes to the net and makes things happen. Colliton will be gone and Perry will be gone. Both did not look like they have that extra umphf to excel at another level.

Great Goaltending, good defense, so so forwards albeit hard working, should equal just by a hair, a Canada World Junior championship.

One other note, I was impressed with the OUA level of play. Has improved from years past. Good news for Canadian Collegiate Athletics.

Has the game started? Who's sitting and who's playing?
Maybe someone from out west -- Sportsnet West is showing the game live...... but here in Ontario - midnight!

I saw a quick update on TSN - looked like Perry was on the ice but he's the only question mark player I saw (Paille was also there).

Colliton and Brent will be cut. Just a feeling.

If Brent's cut then I'll be extremely suprised because he's not playing in the game tonight. Which tells you one of two things. The coaching staff has already made up their mind and he's going to make the team. Or the coaching staff has made up their mind and he's going to be cut. If the later is the case, then I'd say thats pretty unfair to the guy.

Brent is a great team guy and works hard on the ice. For any short tournament, you need guys who like Brent who can provide not only leadership but character to unite the players and build on that elusive team chemistry. I hope the kid makes the team.
