Hall got his bell rung trying to hit Colin Miller tonight. We'll see if he's good to go tomorrow, but I have a feeling he'll be out.

Pretty excited, I'm going to this one. Checking out the new standing room section. Hoping mistakes haven't been made :DD. Has anyone seen the standing room section in person? Thoughts?

I can see an angry and top motivated Devils team looking for redemption. They must be wondering what has happened between leading 4-0 on October 05 against Winnipeg seconds before second intermission and completely falling apart after that twice within 24 hours. The team has tons of talent one has to admit. We better don´t come out flat.

Of course Schneider and Hall being injured could help. Hall came back in the third period though.

Of course we have to play the Devils when they are coming off of 2 devastating losses and looking for their first W.

Their defensive play is a total mess right now so hopefully our forecheck can create turnovers and yield results.

Coots and Hayes vs Nico and Jack will be fun to watch.

I'm not sure how talented this Devils team really is, they have some high end talents, but flashy scorers don't a team make:

Lines
9 Taylor Hall - 13 Nico Hischier - 21 Kyle Palmieri
No problem with this line
20 Blake Coleman - 19 Travis Zajac - 17 Wayne Simmonds
If Coleman was a Flyer, we'd be in our 4th string eviscerating AV for playing him on the second line 28 years old, 22 and 28 ES points the last two years. A marginal 3rd line talent.
Zajac is 34, and on the downslope, maybe a 3C at best, think the last years of Filppula
Simmonds, unless he drank from the fountain of youth . . .
44 Miles Wood - 86 Jack Hughes - 63 Jesper Bratt
Wood is 24 and has been a decent 3LW, which seems to be his upside
Hughes is the wunderkid, but a bad first 2 games, may take him a while to adjust to bigger players, smaller windows
Bratt can score, but he's really small, and can struggle with teams that push him around
97 Nikita Gusev - 37 Pavel Zacha - 90 Jesper Boqvist
Gusev is another mighty mite, are they trying to imitate TB? Maybe they should have hired Cooper as HC?
Zacha, "look like Tarzan, play like Jane" so far in his career, could always turn it around, but is anyone taking bets?
Boqvist has some upside, but another one dimensional forward

There's something to work with after the 1st line, but Hughes will go through growing pains and will need better linemates to really show his stuff, especially a Lindblom type to get him the puck. They lack size, defense and grit, even TB has a bottom six that can go get the puck.

Pairings
6 Andy Greene - 76 P.K. Subban
Greene will be 37 at the end of this month, and people were saying Niskanen and Braun were past their prime?
Subban is the enigma, can he bounce back to Norris candidate status or will he be crying "dem bones, dem bones" by mid-season (bad back)
8
Will Butcher - 45 Sami Vatanen
Butcher is "Ghost lite," primary value is as PP QB, nothing special at ES, Vatanen at 28 is what he is, which is "meh," nothing awful, nothing special, marginal top 4 talent.
25 Mirco Mueller - 28 Damon Severson
Third pair guys. Which is where they're playing.
Goalies
29 Mackenzie Blackwood
35 Cory Schneider
Blackwood is the key, Schneider at 33 is their Elliott, but Blackwood had a nice cameo (23g, .918) last year after two mediocre AHL seasons - so was that an anomaly or is he the next Binnington (and is Binnington able to sustain?).

Devils remind of the Flyers the past five years, a few good talents, lot's of mediocre players filling out the roster, with good goalie play (Mason) they can make the playoffs, without it they'll draft in the top ten.

One of the most overrated summers I’ve seen; NJD being the biggest over NYR. These games are usually fun to watch, but I’m expecting a blowout. Their goaltending is awful, their defense is a slight comparison to ours 4 years ago, and I think their F group is overrated.

Rangers look good so far but lack of depth on C and D should eventually catch up to them.

Meh, Zib looks good. They’ve also played a dismantled WPG team and arguably the worst team the NHL has seen in a long time: Ottawa.

Hank is too old to play well through 35-40 games and they’ve given up 79/80 shots in total. They’re a team that’s going to need to outscore their problems (as you stated depth is the major one).

Their backups are going to be one of their more valuable assets this season.

I liked what I saw from Gusev in the game against Winnipeg but didn’t notice him much against the Sabres.

Schneider looked like his old self for about 30 minutes before reverting back into last season Cory Schneider.

Jack Hughes is a speedy little guy that looks to be trying to do too much with some of his dipsy do maneuvers that usually end up with Hughes turning over the puck.

The Devils are a fast small team but can easily be pushed to the wall with good defensive play or just clogging up the middle and being physical early in the game.
AV has had plenty of time to game plan against the debbies hopefully it will result in a philly home opener W.

We are who we thought they are.

Their forward group is pretty good. But their D and goaltending was the issue in the first place. They tried. And a lot of times it takes time for a new team to come together. They obvi aren’t going to lose 7-2 or cough up 4-0 leads every night.
