For sure. Beyond the physical factor, the guy on the Caps that really worries me is Oshie. Sure Ovechkin will be a threat but I think one we can handle as long as we limit his space. But Oshie has a broader talent range, is a better skater and can seriously hurt an opponent with genuine skill if he gets on a roll. I know he's had some injury concerns but assuming he can even be close to fully fit then I think that's one guy the Bs really need to put a lot of focus on. If he has a poor series that'll go a long way to giving us the edge.
I’ll match our top 2 lines with any team in the league. It’s Washington’s 4th line that has me concerned. Hagelin-Dowd-Hathaway is one of the best 4th lines in the league IMHO, and they’ve given us trouble all year. Tampa’s 4th line is what killed us last year as well.

Our 4th line has generally been a shit show all season. Getting Lazar has been a huge help and we’ve definitely improved since he’s arrived, but the bottom 3 are really going to have to play well if we are going to win this series.

I hope the Bs come out with energy from the 1st puck drop - they should have learned that opponents, especially in the postseason, will not let them skate circles around them.

There can be no thought of 'saving energy' for Rd2 - this is going to be a war - in order to make their undoubted skill advantage tell they are going to have to match the Caps physically and not be afraid to cross the line 1st. Don't wait for Wilson or Hathaway to smash one of our guys head first into the boards before deciding to ramp things up...it'll already be too late. St Louis showed us that.

B's in 6.

I agree. Hathaway gets a lot of the attention with his antics but Dowd and Hagelin have also really made that line incredibly effective. Physical, hard-working and well capable of punishing opponents on the scoreboard if given half a chance. How exactly the Bruins best shape their own bottom 6 and match it with Washington's I'm still not sure. It's a concern for Boston and one they really need to get right.

I guess having the better top 6, far superior goal-tending and defensive depth isn't enough? You need Boston to have an overwhelming advantage across every facet to feel confident?

You are reading too much into this. Nobody said they weren't feeling confident. Simply giving Washington credit where its due.

This is going to be a hard fought series. There are no easy teams in the East Division bracket.

I don’t think so at all. This team can beat them and they’ve shown they can. Especially even before the Taylor Hall/Lazar trade.
The bruins are a different team since the TDL the skill and depth is better.

Lazar

Reilly

Hall

Swayman ( farm) might play

Tinordi ( waivers)

Miller , will play more against WAS

Plus DK has stepped up his game of late. Plus with Carlo being back is another advantage for the B’s.

I think if the Bruins get past Washington, they will go to the Cup Final.

I see Washington as the weakest draw they'll get tbh, not sure why Washington would be special. Penguins, Leafs, Bolts, Canes, Knights, Avs, man it's a scary bunch. Gonna be fun!

I love you Z but you signed with those assholes. No more love for you until you sign elsewhere (except Montreal of course) or you retire.

Orr and Chara retired as Bruins
