Nutivaara/Strålman is actually the second pairing. Yandle/Gudas is the third pairing. Though both Stråls and Gudas get the occasional time together, especially on the PK. Yandle gets 3rd pairing minutes at 5x5 but is the PP specialist on PP1.

It’s complicated. ;)

Yup. Even went down to S. Florida to celebrate his 800th game via fan sign. He was very appreciative, making sure to toss me a puck and thank me for the support. :DD Some players I’m pretty loyal to even after they’ve left the Bolts. Bishop and Fedotenko  are others that come to mind.

Stråls had a difficult first season with the Panthers since he had double hernia core surgery the May before that season started. That was the injury that plagued him throughout his last season with us. :( Plus he got saddled with Matheson. :P But Strålman has been looking more like his old self this season.

Since my beloved Bolts favs have their well-deserved Cup rings, I’m rooting a bit more this season for the underdog Cats. ;)

Talk about someone who's name belongs on the Cup but isn't.
Vinny Prospal. Was on the 02 and 03 teams. Played for Anaheim in 04. Came back to the Bolts for 06, 07, 08, and 09.

Prospal should have been with us in 2004, instead of his 1 year replacement in Stillman, who won another cup with Carolina anyway.

What is everyones thoughts on Johnson so far this year?
For a more serious answer though -

Same issues I had before. Plays seem to die on his stick a lot, but the line seems to be decent on the cycle and he hasn't collapsed at any and all contact. Basically - everything is working so I don't see the need to line shuffle. Joseph is doing well on the fourth but I'd rather he excel there than be forced into a role he isn't ready for. I wouldn't mind seeing some ABB or even Volkov in his spot for a few games to see if they can take a jump, but as of now it's kind of "do no harm".

Yeah, I was thinking of this the other day, how the four Tampa Bay championship teams all have that one player (or maybe more than one in the 2020 Lightning's case) who belonged on those rosters but wasn't there.

2002 Bucs: Hardy Nickerson (last played in '99) -- Paul Gruber also has a strong claim (also last played in '99)
2004 Lightning: Prospal (played on the '03 and '06 teams in addition to other seasons before and after, but wasn't here in '04)
2020 Lightning: I thought of Ben Bishop first and foremost, but there are a few others who have credible claims as well
2020 Bucs: Gerald McCoy (last played in '18)

I'm sure this thought exercise can be used for every championship team across history, but I only care about the ones I celebrate and cherish, of course.

On the topic of Stillman, though, he had a fantastic regular season that year. 25 goals, 80 points. It was bizarre how he just completely went silent during the playoffs, to the point of even being a healthy scratch in Game 5 of the Final. Even one of the goals he scored was the definition of a soft goal given up by the goalie.

He'll be a scapegoat unless he does something spectacular. Still a serviceable player, sure his offensive touch and extra gear isn't there as much as it used to be but I see him doing the right things. It's easy (especially for a small, skilled forward) on this team to get lost in the shuffle, but he's competing and playing responsible hockey on a line that does some heavy lifting and lacks high end talent for him to mesh with. Aside from cap hit, I really don't see the problem at all. Victim of depth and cap hit, not a bad hockey player. There's always someone for people to whine about, lately it's him. Just shows how stacked this team really is. I remember reading about Palat being talked about as a healthy scratch and a burden too.

Tyler Johnson the basketball player? hes not looking so good. Tyler Johnson the football player? well hes a Super Bowl Champion:sarcasm:. Tyler Johnson the hockey player (Syracuse Crunch goalie)? His numbers arent the greatest except for his time with the Soo Greyhounds after being traded from the London Knights. Tyler Johnson the hockey player ( Lightning forward)? Hes a little bit of all 3 of the other Tyler Johnsons; hes a champion, but his numbers are not great and hes still a shell of his former self
