I don't understand why Landeskog is getting 7.5 B ratings. He probably wouldn't have been pegged a top 3 draft prospect if that was his upside...

I think it's because people are trying to weigh his floor against his ceiling the most correctly, since HF's grading system is hard to use on him. It's hard to call him an 8.0B because I could realistically see him as a good third line shutdown man (6.5), but a 7.5 makes it seem like all he's capable of is becoming an okay 1st liner/ very good second liner. His offense hasn't exactly wowed me, but I changed mine to 8.0C. The numbers won't reflect the leadership he'll bring. I'd take a good second line player/future captain 2nd overall.

id give both rnh and larsson 9.0C.
larsson is supposed to be better than hedman and hedman got a 8.5B

Larsson's stock dropped a bit after this season. Hedman's upside was greater thanks to his physical attributes. RNH was definitely below Tavares at the draft and also below Hall (also 9.0C I believe). I think 8.5C for both is fine.

I'm sorry, but you guys are overrating RNH to hell! Not a chance hes in the same league as Seguin or Hall. He's an 8-8.5 B/C.

Anyway
Landeskog 8B
Larsson 8.5B
Huberdeau 8C
Strome 8.5D

I can't even pretend to score these guys, but I do know many of you will regret this day if you didn't grade the Landeskog higher! :avs

Total "homer" post for the record.

Armia at a 7C? Are you kidding?

I have no problem with the C rating because he is definitely a boom or bust type pick, but the guy has ELITE skill. 8.5C IMHO.

I used to be a Boy Scout, and I think that you guys may be underrating Siemens' upside a bit. He's one of the youngest players in the draft and was still considered the #10 skater, so I'd say he's more of an 8.0D or something.

This was considered to be a very challenged draft similar to 1999, so I would think most all ratings are wildly inflated e.g. Biggs will probably be a 5 to 10 goal scorer on the 4th line similar to Tie Domi who was picked I think in the 3rd round of his draft year. Check out 1999 draft:

And my initial thoughts on Boston's remaining picks

Khokhlachev - 7.5C I think he'll be a first-liner with dynamic potential, but he's not there yet. He was top-20 in several mocks I saw, and just outside in many others. He's got 8.0 talent, but to avoid cries of homerism, I'll stick to 7.5 :/
Camara - 6.0C - Very solid young man (17 till September, as is Khokho) looks like a smaller, better-skating lucic-esque guy. Better skill than initially billed, but still looks like a 3rd or 4th-liner.
Ferlin - 6.5C - Strong offensive instincts, good speed and mobility (even though he looks a bit awkward) and a nice shot... second, perhaps third line ability if he pans out - but he's got a loooong way to go.
O'Gara - 6.5D - Big, intelligent and mobile defender might have the stuff to be a solid second-pairing guy, but his path to the NHL may be long (spending another year at Milton before heading to Yale ... not exactly a "pro factory") and there's a good possibility it will get derailed. Like what I've seen, though.
Volden - 7.0D - Very athletic and talented Norwegian netminder for the Blues of SM-L... he has some decent NHL potential but will have to shake some of the issues which troubled him to reach it.

Nice read. Klefbom is too high though.

I'd give Brodin closer to an 8.0B. Maybe even 8.5C I see no way he isn't a top 4 D-man.

At worst he's a Kim Johnsson type player. (When he was good.) Smooth, fluid skater. Great passing, great at getting the puck out of the d-zone. Also has some big offensive potential as a puck-mover. (Similiar to how Lidstrom get's his points.)

**Disclaimer...

**In no way am I comparing or expecting Brodin to be as good or near as good as Lidstrom

Couturier is going to be the best player from this draft, and it has NOTHING to do with me being a Flyers fan.
I've been saying that since last year, so you could imagine my jubilance when i heard Homer call his name.

Last year? So was everybody else...a year has passed.

To say the 1st overall and the 8th overall have the same upside rating is laughable. It has everything to do with you being a Flyers fan. Or just complete ignorance. One or the other.

well you sure told me.

usually when someone says "since" it means the cumulative time since that point. meaning while everyone was over hyping RNH and Huberdeau.
so explain to me why couturier had the best PPG% of anyone in the draft after missing 10 games due to mono, on a pretty average team nonetheless.

is that ignorance? or do numbers just mean im a flyers fan?

what's laughable is that you obviously don't follow junior hockey too well.

If PPG is all that matters, he would have gone 1st overall. Clearly PPG does not dictate where you are drafted. :shakehead

Plus he didn't miss 10 games to to mono...he missed 10 games due to the World Juniors.

Do you just think that the 7 other teams in the draft are stupid and don't know what they're doing?

sure he could become the best player out of the draft, but clearly 7 other teams think otherwise, and to project him as the best player of the draft at this point in time, after he as picked 8th overall is foolish.

I don't follow junior hockey too well? You're basing everything on his point totals and numbers, and you didn't even realize he missed 0 games because of mono. If player projection was based on numbers, the draft would be easy.

and if YOU followed junior hockey, you would realize the guy was awful in the playoffs for Drummondville.

yes he missed games due to the world juniors is what i meant.

he missed training camp due to mono and got off to a slow start.

it's also not foolish to have an opinion. it's foolish to claim that i'm being foolish by stating that opinion. if you don't agree with it, i really couldn't care less. it's what i think, and no it's got nothing to do with me being a Flyers fan, because i'd still be making the claim regardless.

But you're basing your entire opinon on his point totals, which is in fact EXTREMELY foolish.

Again, you tell me why he went 8th overall even though he had the best PPG in the league? I don't think you realized that he played 30+ minutes per night and was literally the only elite option on his team. Easy to rack up points in the Q when you are 6'4" and playing 30+ minutes a night.

I literally don't know how anyone could say that his rating should be the same as RNH's.
