Its almost pre season time and around 40 days til opening games.

Time for some prediction;

Will the Jets come out guns blazing and release that few months bottled up (heartache) lost against the Knights.
Or the Jets will come out flat again?

I think Jets go
8-1-1

Nashville and Carolina games are the iffy games for me.
The rest are winnable.

The Nashville game and the 10th game will be a nice atmosphere games.
The 2 Blues game are important gamws right away. Jets have to bury them as early as they can.
The rest are bottom dweller teams from last years. Hope Jets dont sleep on it. ONE of this game might be with the back up goalie.

L.A. game - Kovalchuck
Dallas game - hope Laine hasnt lose the touch against them. An early hat trick in the year will be nice.
Vancouver game - is the Patterson kid playing? Boeser vs. Connor/ Laine/Ehlers/Roslo.
Horvat. Remembered him from the London Knights against Schiefele.
Arizona game - will they talk about Gally playing at center or his extra business as your voicemail voice

Edmonton game - McDavid! Will that finnish kid who is suppose to be better than Laine be playing?

6-2-2 for 14 points and on pace for 115 points for the season. Pretty much what we saw last year but with a couple of 3-3 OT loses to throw some red meat do the sky is always falling crowd.

prior to the season starting one always thinks it so huge to get off to a great start.

Truth be told the grind of the year kicks in and it gets irrelevant real fast.

As long as you don't fall into a deep hole your generally good.

I remember reading a story about the pre-islanders dynasty in the eighties and how Al Arbour got them off to these great starts and burned them out by the time playoffs came...In the late seventies I think they were upset by the leafs twice.

After that he said he didn't even bother caring very much until January.

It was also a time where there was 16 teams that made the playoffs in a 21 team league. A top talent team could s*** the bed for the whole season and easily make the playoffs. Now there is 31 teams and a whole lot of parity.

You add in the high volume of loser points it is very tough to make up ground in today's NHL.

Well last year i tossed in the towel after 2 games then was back on ship for the rest of the year after that. So my goal this year is to stay level headed. In saying that, I do believe you want to be in a playoff spot early and hold it. The American Thanksgiving rule seems like a good bet most years
