NHL.com and Hockey-reference both have the same stats.

http://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/NHL_1931_goalies.html

They have only 2 shared games, 1 each for the Sens and Maroons. I found 7, with 2 for the Quakers and 3 more for the Maroons.

The NHL records have changed since this was originally done. Their records now differ for 3 games.

They credit Walsh with a complete game on 11/25/1930 https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=YRQuAAAAIBAJ&sjid=SYwFAAAAIBAJ&pg=6394,4103960
They also have different splits on two Quaker games where Miller and Cude both played.

Gardiner was the 1st team all-star, but lost the Vezina by giving up 8 goals in the second last game of the season. All-star voting had been done almost two months earlier, and officially released in early March.

Here is how the scoring levels had changed from the low in 1928-29 through the high in 1929-30 and back down in 1930-31.

1928-29 Total 1.39 GAA H/R 1.20/1.59
1929-30 Total 2.85 GAA H/R 2.46/3.23
1930-31 Total 2.31 GAA H/R 1.98/2.65

Which of these guys ended up having notable careers? I think Chabot/Connell/Gardiner/Hainsworth/Kerr/Roach/Thompson/Worters?

The book about Wilf Cude reminded me of this. NHL.com still has debut game of Cude wrong in their game logs.

Game ended 3-0

NHL has Cude playing 55 minutes, giving up 3 goals and having a loss from that game. Miller 5 minutes.

What actually happened was Miller started the game and the change happened according to one report "exactly half way throw the period" (second). All the game reports seem to agree that the change happened in second period.

So correct data would be both playing 30 minutes. Miller letting in 2 goals and Cude 1. And the loss should go to Miller.

Understandable that mistakes happen, but after the corrections they made few years ago it is slightly disapointing still.

I have it (12/16/30) as Miller 34 min with 2 GA on 12 shots, and Cude 26 min with 1 GA on 15 shots. The Hockey Summary Project has it as a 30/30 split.

That "exactly half way" comes from Daily News (New York) writer Norm Busch report. It has saves going 11 Miller 13 Cude. So shots 13-14. Though the article mentions Cude saving six before the bell and the boxscore gives only 5.

AP talks half way in second and Brookly Daily Eagle (New York) in the middle of the period. It´s possible that you have better source. Nevertheless NHL is way off in official results.

edit. I focused mostly on New York papers cause the game was played in Madison Square Garden against Americans. Did check few other also.

La Patrie, a french paper, has a period by period breakdown, and says Miller left about 12 minutes after the 2nd goal, so about 14:30 of the second period. A quick look around the other google papers I used mostly back then, doesn't turn up any other reports with a time or saves reported.

Okay I did not use that one . And that is good to know that they have that. These are the bits from Daily News
(and possibly hockey summary project used this) edit. I have used on and off newspapers.com
.

Could these early yearly stats be added to the sticky thread @Theokritos ? I know I every now and then get back to these (work of BM67). And need to use google to find these. :)
