League announced 15 more players tested positive, bringing total so far to 26.

"As of Monday, June 29, the NHL has had in excess of 250 Players report to Club training/practice facilities for optional participation in Phase 2 activities. There have been in excess of 1,450 COVID-19 tests administered to this group of Players. Those tests have resulted in a total of 15 Players returning confirmed positive test results for COVID-19." the league said.
"In addition, since June 8 (the opening of Phase 2), the League is aware of 11 additional Players who have tested positive for COVID-19 outside of the Phase 2 Protocol. All Players who have tested positive have been self-isolated and are following CDC and Health Canada protocols. The NHL will continue to provide regular updates on the number of tests administered to Players and the results of those tests."

All this talk of season resuming is foolish. Wont happen.

To be accurate, that doesn't read as 15 more. Its 15 in total. So likely including Matthews and the 3 Lightening players we already have heard about.

I'm more curious about the symptomatic vs Asymptomatic numbers.

Is it 15 more or is it 15 total including the 11 that we knew about prior?

Sounds like additional:

I'm undecided if 26 out of 250+ is like absolutely horrendous and they should shut this down immediately or if that is a good number and they were expecting it to be a lot worse

I don't think it is absolutely horrendous, but it's definitely not a good number. The league says it won't shut down if there are a few positive tests. Yet we're talking roughly 10% here. One case could spread like wildfire in these bubbles.

26 players now positive(it's not 15 total.....it's 26) and they expect to resume the season? LOL. It's absolutely LUDICROUS. It ain't happening.

And to those who shrug and claim that all these fit young athletes will be fine......well you don't know that. None of us do. SOME could have underlying conditions that are not related to Covid-19 that could cause serious complications. Organs can be effected. The lungs can be damaged. Blot clotting is possible. A young theatre actor had to have a leg amputated due to blood clotting, a few months back. Young people are dying from this too. It's frigging serious!!

I hope every one of them is okay. But the more that test positive, the higher the chances of that not being the case.

Imagine if (just picking a random name) Brayden Point dies from this, or loses a limb, or has complications that end his career. Are summer playoffs worth it?

NO.

Say you are in a company that employs 500 people in some sort of warehouse, if 26 of you get sick are you going to be saying, wow that's amazing its a low number we're fine?

Honestly, depends on if they are Asymptomatic or not. 26 players having heavy symptoms is a lot different than 26 players being exposed, but having no ill-effects.

From the perspective of the NHL, IMO 26 of 250 (~10%) isn't so bad in an absolute sense.

But for these numbers to come from players travelling, reporting to their respective teams and only then getting tested... yikes. That means many of them already had it and were (presumably) asymptomatic while travelling, exposing others. The ones that didn't have it may have contracted it from a teammate during the reporting process, meaning others may still be exposed.

Now that teams have reported, they could get things under control by essentially locking things down for two weeks, clearing up the reported cases, and then running a camp after that with no one new allowed in or out of the bubble. And then hope nobody gets sick on the way to the Hub City.

From a public health perspective, 10% positive from a presumably healthy sample size seems... not good.

Seems fairly in-line with general numbers - once they start the bubble up, in theory no one else should get it
