The New York Islanders go for a sixth straight win when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.
The five previous wins have vaulted the Islanders to the top of the Metropolitan Division, where they own sole possession of first place. They've been especially good defensively on their recent run, allowing seven goals over their past five wins.
The Canadiens are off to a better-than-expected start at 7-4-2 this season and have given the Isles fits in the recent past. The Islanders are 3-9-0 against the Habs over that span.

--Matt Martin missed Saturday's game with an upper-body injury is considered day-to-day. Ross Johnstontook Martin's place in the lineup on Saturday.

--Josh Bailey is riding an eight-game point streak with 11 points (2G, 9A) over that span.

--Thomas Greiss recorded a 35-save shutout on Saturday and has won three straight starts. Greiss has stopped 102 of 105 shots over his last three starts (97.1 save percentage, 0.98 GAA). Robin Lehnermissed Thursday's game with a strain, but backed up Greiss on Saturday.

-- The Canadiens are 3-3-0 in their last six games. Montreal has yet to lose consecutive games this season. They are coming off a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.

-- Carey Price is 5-3-2 this season. The Canadiens goalie has a 2.59 GAA, a .907 SV% and one shutout this season.

-- The Canadiens are 14th in the NHL with 3.08 goals-per-game this season.

Islanders vs Montreal ... a battle of eastern conference powerhouses. Let the good times roll.

Is there anybody on the team that needs a goal more than Tito and Barzal? I’d like nothing more than to see this dynamic duo get going. AB usually has strong games vs his hometown team so I’m calling for some points outta these two tonight.

Kind of crazy to think we could be tied for first in the Conference with a win. I never thought this team was tanking but I didn't expect a start like this. Montreal has played well this year but they're certainly not an elite team.

Be nice to see Clutterbuck get on the goal scorer sheet.

Let's go Isles.

That D-corp is probably worse than ours. Assuming those pairings are accuarate - Petry/Benn as a first pairing???? It makes sense then that both teams are out to pretty successful starts. :dunno:

Petry is pretty underrated. The rest of that group is young and mobile. It’s not as bad as it looks. I actually really like their D especially when Weber is back.

Montreal plays really structured hockey like us, but they play faster.

They are fun to watch and are probably the better team between the two.
