I wonder if Stajan wasn't given one in the event that Treliving doesn't feel that he's in the long term plans. After all, Monahan, Backlund and Colborne look to be a more than adequate top 9 and Bennett will be coming next year.

Thats an interesting point. I don't like the connotation that creates though given that Backlund won't be wearing one either.

I think Russell is being added, there was nothing in there about removing A's. So I am pretty sure we will have 4 players with A's, 2 on the road and 2 at home. We did it a couple years ago and is something a lot of teams do now.

You could be right, but on the Flames FB page, there's pics of a presentation they had with Al McNeil and the Calgary Fire Dept for the Flames leadership group. The members of the Flames leadership group was Gio, Glencross and Russell, Stajan was absent.

Stajan only wore the A (same with Backlund) last year because Glencross and Cammy were hurt separately throughout the year, no?

I'm with AF though. I think Stajan and another vet (maybe Huds?) will be the As on the road.

There will be no "home" and "away" alternates this season, just as there is no "home" and "away" captain. Gio's the captain, Russell and Glencross are the alternates. What is so hard to understand about that?

I don't think anything's "so hard" to understand. I think people are just speculating otherwise, especially because it seems to be a popular thing 'round the NHL these days.

you should ask the Rangers why they couldn't get such a simple thought through their thick heads.

the Flames have made no official announcements one way or the other, what's so hard to understand about that?

2014-15 NHL teams by height, weight and age (based on opening night rosters)

Teams|Weight|WRk|Height|HRk|Age|ARk
Calgary|196.3|30|72.7|27|28.2|10
Average|202.7|-|73.3|-|27.8|-

So, in summary, the Flames' opening night roster was the lightest in the league, older than average and also one of the smallest.

Compare their stats to Chicago and see why that doesn't mean much.

Random question, but does anyone know what Monahan's official weight is? The Flames website hasn't updated their roster section for Monahan and still list him as 6'2 - 185. I've heard some people say he's 190 others say he's 205.

Yeah, I've heard 205 as well.

Am I the only one that wants Stajan back at center and Colborne back on the wing? Stajan doesn't really fit as a 4th line center, at least not yet.

I really like Colborne on Moneys wing, but if they plan on moving Stajan at the deadline having Colborne as a C would be vital. Plus, Joe knowing multiple positions is really useful down the road as well.
