The first 5 names listed above the line are eligible to be put directly on to the list.

The next 5 (below the line), are eligible to be moved up to be put on the next poll. If any two are tied in bottom portion, I'll just move them up, and later on pare down the list when it gets too big.

This is to encourage discussion comparing prospects to each other, citing a drop in talent, etc. Especially for those of us less fortunate to see them for ourselves. It is not supposed to be a mock draft, so just pick the players you like.

You may also want to request a name to be added to the next poll.

1. Adam Larsson, D, Skelleftea (SEL) - SWE
2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C, Red Deer (WHL) - CAN
3. Gabriel Landeskog, LW, Kitchener (OHL) - SWE
4. Sean Couturier, C, Drummondville (QMJHL) - CAN
5. Ryan Strome, C, Niagara (OHL) - CAN
6. Jonathan Huberdeau, LW, Saint John (QMJHL) - CAN
7. Douglas Hamilton, D, Niagara (OHL) - CAN
8. Ryan Murphy, D, Kitchener (OHL) - CAN
9. Duncan Siemens, D, Saskatoon (WHL) - CAN
10. Mika Zibanejad, C, Djurgardens (Elitserien) - SWE
11. Joel Armia, RW, Assat (SM-Liiga) - FIN
12. Tyler Biggs, RW, U18 NDTP (USHL) - USA
13. Brandon Saad, LW, Saginaw (OHL) - USA

I'm saying the same thing about Biggs at #12. I think I'd rather have some of the guys that aren't even up for vote yet.

Yup, they're really big reaches at 12 and 13, imo.

Biggs might crack the first round if some team is really in love with him, but Saad is looking like he will fall out of the first round.

The love Oleksiak is getting is surprising, too. Sort of like Dylan McIlrath last year.

With Oleksiak it's simply an intriguing combination of rare size and pretty dang good skating ability. He's a project to be sure, but he's one of those weird guys that I wouldn't be shocked if he went 10th, wouldn't be shocked if he went 45th. He's that much of a wildcard.

I like him simply because I'm a Northeastern homer

Agreed.

If he's as lazy and inconsistent as I've heard, I would steer clear of the next Dustin Penner.

If he was the next Dustin Penner, I'd have no problem with taking him at #13 (or higher). He reminds me more of Blake Wheeler than Penner. Wheeler is decent but I think a team could do better.

I see why Biggs is rated so high; he's a safe pick. Team's like that. Look at how bloody high Landeskog is ranked. Biggs looks like he could be a physical top 6 guy who can contribute 50-60 points in the Erik Cole mold. Its not the sexiest pick at #10-11, but involves a lot less risk than taking a boom/bust type player who might not stick in the NHL if they can't play on a scoring line. Biggs shouldn't have a problem playing on a team's bottom 6 within the next few years.
