He's a succesful draft pick if he becomes half as good as Ericsson, so a little early to talk about him being better.

The guy Hakan compares him to (Ekholm) is already better than E ever was.

Alas this is Malmstrom we're talking about. And while we all like to curse him, Ericsson played nearly 500 games in the NHL. Even reaching 200 would be a big success for a 4th rounder.

Wasted pick, won't get signed

Standard run of the mill pick. It is something like 50-60% of players don't get contracts from each draft, and many of them never play in the NHL even if they get signed. This is why NHL GMs have no problem trading 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round picks. They are a complete crapshoot that at best, usually net you a 4th line forward or bottom pair/7th defenceman, 3rd/4th string goalie.

And he compared Jarnkrok to Z. Stylistic comparisons don't say much about how good a prospect will actually be.

In his defense, Jarnkrok isn't exactly a bust, he's played 400 games and amassed almost 200 points in the NHL. He's not a top line, two way point per game player, but he is a 2nd/3rd line tweener who plays two way hockey and can chip in 30-40 points reliably..

Look at the date of the comment you're quoting.

Does that matter? I am just saying that this guy won't pan out, could be a language thing but with a wasted pick I mean that he won't do anything for the Red Wings, therefore it is "wasted"

Most players selected at 107 will be a "wasted pick". Most will never make the NHL. Its not a wasted pick. Its the odds.
