I like Thornton's version of what happened...

Joe Thornton on missing Brent Burns: "Maybe one of his snakes bit him." Real reason was stick to the mouth vs Calgary

Edit:

McLellan's comment was pretty funny too actually:
Brent won’t play tonight. He got hit in the teeth – well, he doesn’t have teeth, I guess in the gums – the other night, and they are bothering him right now,” Todd McLellan said. “He’ll be out tonight, and hopefully he’s ready to go when we get to Boston.

if this was just last year or the year before (losing a top 6 forward), we would all be jumping off the cliff and calling it a loss before the game even starts (especially against detroit).

but this year its like oh we are done 2 top 6 forwards, top 4 defensemen, and a 3rd line forward. oh whatever we got this in the bag lol.

Burns isn't skating again today. I really hope sore gums doesn't turn out to be something much worse.

David Pollak @PollakOnSharks
#SJSharks lines? Hamilton still w/19 and 48. Marleau-Couture-Kennedy w/Havlat on odd rush. Third line unchanged. Brown one of 4 guys on 4th.

The bad news:

Kevin Kurz @KKurzCSN
Per McLellan, Burns confirmed out tomorrow. Niemi starting vs. #Bruins

The good news is that it looks like Freddie will get to play against his brother.

What the hell...Broken adam's apple, hurt gums..hurt going over the boards. Sharks with the freaky injury quota the last few years.

I think Thornton with two rookies is just too much.

I say

48-19-57
12-39-81
83/15-8-74/10
15-10-43

But the ice at the joe was bad too...so who knows. How was the 48-19-74 line in terms of advanced stats?

I bet Sheppard is scratched. I'd go

Hertl-JT-Kennedy
Hamilton-Couture-Marleau
NCAA
Brown-Desi-McCarthy

I take it 74 is Hamilton (75)?

Thornton can handle skating with two rookies better then Pavelski in my opinion.

And there's a better then good chance that Brown will play against the Bruins. I don't see them changing up the 2nd or 3rd lines until they feel they have to, it's quite possible it gets to that point tomorrow night.

Sore gums would not keep Burns out for two games. There must have been some major damage.

I had a friend that had problems with a removed tooth where they couldn't stop the bleeding for days. This became very serious. I don't know the details, but it did heal. It could be he's having a similar issue and they don't want him getting hit and starting them bleeding again. Not sure here, but if it's true this started with getting hit in the mouth this could be it.

Well. You want jt on the ice at ES more often. Pavs line would probably see around 12-14 at ES I think. Against Lower comp.

Honestly, I would even cycle desi and brown through the top six as well. If scoring looks like it won't happen I'd bring out
12-19-8 for a few shifts
48-39-57
83-81-18
15-10-75

Just to get some scoring chances

It's all about on ice circumstances though. Should be a fun game.

Don't know why they don't try Kennedy on the top line, I think he'd be a decent fit.

How did Hamilton look against the Wings btw?

He is on the top line at even strength. Thornton is on the 2nd line and Pavs is on the 3rd and both of them double shift with regularity or take some odd shifts with other wingers.
