Goalies play on their knees way to often these days

If the NHL wants to make the goalie position athletic again they'd make the leg pads follow the natural silhouette of the legs whether standing up or down on the knees. The way it is now if you're down on your knees the pads create a horizontal wall along the ice which allows goalies to dominate down low.

If you notice, whats been happening is players have learned this so they all just aim for the corners. Every goal looks like a bullet to the upper corners, or they go sailing just above and around the net (and usually out of the zone)

Oh yeah, it's been that way for awhile. You used to be able to beat a goalie along the ice. Not anymore. The way the goalie pads are designed and worn allows them to effectively sit on certain portions of the net making them more formidable.
