He honestly hasn't been that bad tonight, the Orpik goal was comically bad but the rest weren't that bad.
Even on the Orpik goal he had to deal with Big Rig standing directly in front of him. A save that a good goalie needs to make but I can understand at least in part as to why it was difficult. Pens D hasn’t made it easy on him this game but I’ll admit each goal Washington has scored sans the Orpik goal are likely goals on any goalie in this league.

Just throwing this out there, Penguins defensemen based on CF% and SCF%:

1. Dumoulin: 57.69% CF% with 9:22 TOI, 50% SCF%
2. Letang: 57.14% CF% with 10:04 TOI, 50% SCF%
3. Johnson: 56.52% CF% with 12:04 TOI, 53.85% SCF%
4. Maatta: 56.00% CF% with 12:19 TOI, 57.14% SCF%

5. Schultz: 48.00% CF% with 11:10 TOI, 33.33% SCF%

6. Oleksiak: 42.11% CF% with 9:37 TOI, 22.22% SCF%

I'm thinking the singling out of Maatta here probably isn't fair, because he's been way better than Oleksiak has been tonight.

It's really not even close...you sit Oleksiak.

Maatta at his worst is still better than Oleksiak. Oleksiak couldn't even play 10 mins a game in the playoffs being sheltered.

Maatta has played 16-19 mins a game to two Cups playing tough comp and giving up very little goals.

Maatta is light years better than Oleksiak.

Oleksiak, IMO, has like 0 value and is 2m. Maatta, IMO, should have a lot of value and is signed for a bit. #3 should have value because he IS better than Oleksiak. But fit purposes... bleh.

The criticism in this thread is off the charts, I may have to give up participating in them. Our fans are terrible.

Cool. In a live thread during a game where everyone is reacting in a basic group chat, we should just sit here quietly and rationalize discussion.

Makes perfect sense. Easy solution - Log off.

Impressed with JJ. Not necessarily convinced it will continue but maybe. He at least looks comfortable with how we play. Looks like a guy who has been playing our system for years.

Reminds me a little of Ian Cole tbh.

Sully could give Sprong a chance there or double shift Rust...he was doing that on the fourth line for Sprong for absolutely no reason....

Not sending out a guy who's been on the PP for the first line post-PP is a reason.

And you want to demote Kessel to the 4th line? That'll go super well.

I think you'd get something similar to Cole if you'd give Cole Daley's skating abilities. He's been really impressive tonight so far, I've noticed way more good things he has done than bad things.

That's another shift with Sheahan out for Simon with Brass and Rust. Saw 1 or 2 in the 2nd too.

Exactly it's just spur of the moment over reactions as they happen, in real time.

But I mean if the dude dont like it. Log out.
