whats that, I'm not a mind reader
It's what he does here .
Carlyle won a cup
Everything seems to be going well so far.
The expectation is
And Babs just can't do it.....
Or maybe it's okay to criticize some of Babcock's decisions
Revisit if they go out int he 1st round this year
Or are you happy being regular season champs and waving the pom-poms because of what a coach did elsewhere
Sam I am, all I said was Bab has playoff experience and has been to the finals 3 or 4 times, he knows what it takes to get there. You will not be revisting anything I have said but i will revist your whining, later on.
Does he keep his job if they don't get past the first round? He's got the horses,so the pressures on now for Babs. He doesn't accept any excuses from his players. That's a two way street in my book. I don't much care who they face in the first round,it has to be won.
easily coaches out his contract, this team is a few years away from its peak, that's when we can discuss coaching change if we regress. Taveras makes what 100k a game, think about that.
I agree that the Leafs need two power forwards who can score and fight, two high end defensemen and a veteran backup goaltender.
Trade for the Sharks' Evander Kane and the Oilers' Milan Lucic, the Jets' Tyler Myers or Jacob Trouba and the Canes' Pesce, and sign free agent goalie Steve Mason.
Kane and Lucic are on some of the worst contracts in the league, and Myers is useless and soft according to Winnipeg fans. Trouba doesn't want to play in Canada, and Mason is not worth targeting. Pesce is the only realistic option
so ,miss the playoffs and he's good still?
This team won't miss the playoffs for the next 10 years,
Lucky for Babs if true. A first round exit would be the end of Babs for me. Barring extraordinary circumstances that is.
Hector, you complain every day here, it doesn't matter if we win, lose or an off day. I don't see it making any difference if we don't make the playoffs with you lol.
You're not exactly the epitome of objective commentary yourself. I give praise when deserved. If you think everything is peachy and there is no room for improvement ,that Babs is infallible, then so be it!
I see this team still in development, I try not to critic anything too much, right now. You, on the other hand, see this team as finished product and complain about the lines, ATOI, coaching, Hyman, etc.
typical, you couldn't be more wrong! Finished product? You won't find that quote anywhere in my history. even your cherry picking is off. I don't care much in regards the lines, but I will never concede that Hyman is a Top 6 winger in this league ,which is Babs call,so hence the the disagreement with Babs choices.
Tell me ,oh positive one, what is left to do? I mean since they are still developing and all(every team is by the way). Whats your next play?
Big 3 are still figuring out how to play like a champ, we have, Kappy, Johnsson, Dermot, Oz, Sparks, Lindholm trying to be NHL regulars. Babs is still figuring out who can do what. I don't think the Caps, Pens, Bolts, Preds have those growing pains right now.
So then! it's not all candies and nuts for you after all...there are some ifs and buts. As a fan,who spends time and perhaps money on this team ,you are entitled to your opinion and team bettering ideas! I won't say you are wrong in your assessment ,but I too have entertained what could /should happen. Why they aren't listening to me...well,I have no idea!!!
No team is perfect. Even Tampa might be telling themselves: "We need to be better".
Perhaps I am putting too much emphasis on winning it all this year.
Let's see how TOR does in the post-season. A first round exit will be a failure and could cost some jobs.
Let Dubas sweat out the cap management situation for the remainder of his time here.
TOR should be fine this season making the playoffs, but we are not built to go deep yet. So be it.
It is what it is, but they will not be Champions this season. They will have to learn how to win and close out a series. Perhaps in 3 or 4 years they will be Champions.
We could go through every team and point out flaws, it just seems when we get to ours people are really defensive about it.
At present, and this is just my opinion, share it or not, I think we are weak on the forecheck and equally so against a strong forecheck. If things get tight, I’m not sure we can fight through it to score dirty playoff goals. Add that to the fact that the sample size for our young guys is limited in terms of experience/playoff success and I don’t know if we survive 4 rounds of playoff matchups.
We will see, I’ll start with win a round first.
Sure it's okay now and again. (eg. putting out the 4th line in Tampa after the goal on Thursday)
But repeated criticism over the same subjects from sources without credibility shouldn't (and generally isn't) taken seriously by most rational fans.
Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas speaks to the media about the current state of the Maple Leafs and whether or not he is worried about teams offer sheeting Mitch Marner or Auston Matthews.
