You would be correct. Have lived in Winnipeg all my life and am old enough to remember the mid 70's. I personally can't explain why this movie was so popular in Winnipeg. No clue. If you can believe it, it played in theatres around Winnipeg on and off from 1974-1977. I've probably seen the movie at least 15x and now own it on Blu-Ray. Am willing to bet that 90% of Winnipeggers between the ages of 35-55 have seen the film at least once. Again, any explanation fails me.

FWIW.. the concert scenes near the end of film were shot at the Majestic theatre in Dallas.
