Kreider is the model of consistency. just because he isnt always on the score sheet doesnt mean he isnt doing exactly as the coaches ask and being a role model in the locker room to all of the younger kids coming up IE: Kakko, Fox, Buch when he first got here, Lindgren, etc....

you want consistency. look at CK's stats. 50 point player give or take depending on injury status. View attachment 320331
Imagine if he played every game like he has the last 25-30...he would be a 85-90 point player, but he’s not, he’s inconsistent and take weeks off at time. He’s in a contract year so all of a sudden he plays hard every game? C’on

I don't understand how CK thinks he is worth 7/7 when Lee has scored 40 goals, or 7/5 when JVR scored 30 several times. This is the first year he will score 30. 6.5/5 or 6/6, if he is looking for more he can play in Detroit or New Jersey - who else has a huge amount of capspace this summer?
If Lee would have scored 40 goals last year he most likely would have gotten more. JVR signed his contract 2 years earlier. Contracts are going up, that's why he (most likely) thinks he's worth more than 6/6.

It was in a carp article like a week ago he quoted a whole bunch of players saying Kreider took them under his wing

Edit- link for ya Chris Kreider is the one the Rangers can't afford to lose,...

For those without subscription, Buch, Fox, Chytil and Kakko all attested to ways Kreider helped them adjust to the pro game and/or inspired their work ethic
So no other veteran on the team helped those players out? Only Kreider?

But the kids’ success brings up another point about Kreider’s value and another example of how important he is to this team in this situation. Simply, Kreider is their Pied Piper, the guy they go to for advice, the guy they follow to the gym in the offseason, the guy who helps them along.
Yes, Mika Zibanejad surely does it, too. And so do Marc Staal and Henrik Lundqvist and Jesper Fast, among the other young veterans.
Kreider’s influence, to me, stands out.

So because Kreider is having a pretty solid season and been one of the most consistent players in the league over last 30 games, NYR fans arent allowed to enjoy his play because he is not as consistent as McDavid or Crosby?

We know what Kreider is like and know exactly how he plays. We watch him every night and notice a big difference when Kreider does disappear but he is a consistent 50+ point player who can be so effective even when he doesnt get points on the board.

...and FYI, there will be a hell of a lot of disappointed fans when he is traded as he is a massive part of the team and loved by most of the fanbase.

Nope. Never said you couldn’t enjoy Kreider’s play. Don’t be silly.
As for his consistency or lack of it... you need to figure out what that consistent 50 with a small plus if any means in terms of dollars not just for next season but 3-4 years down the road when he will become a bottom six player. What are you willing to pay in year 4, 5, 6...? If you think paying Kreider at least $7m during those years is wise then this conversation is over and more power to you.
And FYI... I will miss him too. I won’t miss watching him circling around waiting for plays to happen or watching him stare at replays on his iPad on the bench but will miss him coming up in some big spots in the playoffs and when he’s on and playing with edge which is when he’s effective.
This really doesn’t have to be so dramatic or convoluted. If he and his agent work something out at a team friendly discount that Gorton and JD think is worth it then everyone is happy. If Kreider is looking to get paid which he’s certainly earned the right to then it’s time to move on and work with what Gorton gets in return.

Kreider would be interesting as a Bruin. Can see him Krejci and Debrusk on a lethal 2nd line.

And for the Bruins, who needs a first rder, when they do so well with their 2nd rders. ;)

People complaining about CK dominance, look, very rarely do coaches say okay, let loose. Remember AV finally desperate enuf to give him the green light in a playoff game vs Sens and wow did he dominate that period single handedly before OTT adjusted.

And when this happens it is still not using the whole team.

Chemistry is a fragile thing. Super Fab chemistry w/Zib. Just need one more F to have lights out line.

Boston will need to add here. Kreider may be the player they target but anyone trading for him will pay up. To many teams in the mix. Pens worked on Zucker for a year and finally did the deal. I don't think Boston pays him his ask next year so he will be an expensive rental. Pens Boston and TB have superior goal tending and the Caps may have some issues there as do the Leafs and Flyers.
