Why would Montreal retain on Weber who remains a 1D to trade him to Toronto?

Weber is not as 'done' as people here want to make out and when he learns to walk again he will be fine

Weber has played great for Montreal he's still a true 1D just stuck with no-one to play with and guys who can't open jars to back him up

People crapping on the Weber contract should watch his play and realize he's not overpaid in the current league and any really bad stuff thats going to happen from his deal is going to happen to NSH

7.8 AAV for 1D isn't ludicrous

Bergevin trading away Subban to get Weber now that was ludicrous

He just tore tendons in his foot.

Do you have any idea how serious that is?

I tore ligaments in my foot a few months ago and I just learned to walk again.

I'm not a professional athlete but tearing anything in your lower body is a recipe for disaster, when you consider he's already 33 and has 8 years left on his contract. He didn't have great mobility to start with, considering he's a monster of a human being. If this injury slows him down even a little bit, he won't be a 1D for much longer.

good point about you not being a pro athlete and not having access to that level of rehab and doctors

people should probably realize their personal experiences don't really equate to other people's situations

meanwhile Weber tours Tavares around the F1 this weekend in Montreal can you say done deal?

Are you insinuating that Tavares is likely to sign in MTL?

Hahahahaha.

Ok.

not for a second lols just thought it was a funny way to end that last post

the local internet detective work going into Weber being sighted with Tavares this weekend is pretty funny if you're in Montreal

Why would any player choose to jump into something this dysfunctional the ownership doesn't understand that players now choose where they go much earlier and Bergevin makes it impossible for any quality UFA to choose Montreal

San Pedro, CA.
I think that would be a deal the Habs could do.

Galchenyuk Drouin Gallagher
Byron Fabbri Zadina
Hudon Danault Thompson
Lehkonen De La Rose Shaw
Deslauriers

Mete Weber
Bouwmeester Petry
Alzner Juulsen
Reilly Schlemko

Allen
Niemi

If Bouwmeester is healthy and stuff, ship him out for more at the deadline and call up Walman.

Pleasure doing fake business with you lol. I’d figure a core of Tarasenko, Schwartz, Schenn, Patches, Pietrangelo, Parayko, etc with Price in net would definitely have Tavares chomping at the bit to come here.

Bergevin aside, that situation is currently a rebuild.

There is no chance Tavares even entertains the thought of going there, given their current state. Once they rebuild it, which I genuinely think they will, it'll be a top destination. I don't think MB is around in 12 months. That guy is sooo fired.

Let's check THE FACTS......75th in the league, that's where your boy finished the year THE 75th BEST GOALIE IN THE NHL

How many of those players polled do you think might want to change their mind?

Webber is good. $7.8 for a 40 year old Webber kind of stinks

totally agree but based on his salary I'm guessing thats never going to be an issue I can't imagine him continuing to play past the 21-22 season

even if his health stays good he goes from 6 to 3 mil in salary

even if he wants that 3 million I'm guessing after the 22-23 season he would retire and decline to play 3 more years for a million a year

you suck Bergevin what were you thinking

His cap will stay flat. Probably of good use to a cap floor challenged team though

Ah, let's sign Jimmy Carson.

Just because you have been good, doesn't mean you are good *now*.

If Bouwmeester is healthy and stuff, ship him out for more at the deadline and call up Walman.

Shipping assets like Price and Patches to St-Louis without at least one of Thomas or Kyrou coming back should be criminal.

That's one bad case of quality for quantity, and those rarely turn out well.

Montreal would have to retain at least $2M per season for the remaining 8 years.

Even then, the return for Montreal would not be significant.

I love Weber but his torn tendons, age and ludicrous contract really hamper his trade value.

If he retires, Nashville takes on the burden of his contract but I would never expect him to prematurely retire. Guys like Weber just don't suddenly retire. They keep playing until they physically can't anymore and if he's playing the last couple seasons of his career at 70%, due to his body deteriorating, that's a bad investment. I am not willing to have my team pay significant assets for a guy that age, with that contract.
Question how does Montreal retain 2 mil on 1 mil being paid out.
