All about the young players preparing to enter the NHL.
NHL Affiliated Prospects Ranked.
1-Rasmus Dahlin, Buffalo, 1st overall in 2018
Rasmus is a defender with franchise level impact, he should fit in right away on the Sabres top pair, may need to be eased in on the PP time and defensively as he is still very thin and will need to fill out before being able to match up with every forward, should have a comparable impact to Auston Matthews in his first year. He will not be on this list for long, essentially already a NHL player.
2-Andrei Svechnikov Carolina, 2nd overall in 2018...
Over the past 20 days, I've conducted a set of daily polls to roughly determine who HFBoards thought were the top 20 goaltending prospects in the NHL.
The requirements to be included were the goalie had to be under 25 years of age at the starting date of the first poll, and the goalie must have fewer than a total of 20 NHL games of experience.
In conclusion, these are the results:
#1: Carter Hart (PHI) [27.4%]
#2: Ilya Samsonov (WSH) [47.7%]
#3: Igor Shestyorkin (NYR) [34.7%]
Let me start off by saying I don’t think this is a good draft like a lot of people seem to think. I think it’s about average but I’m not a huge fan so far. The 2018 draft was stacked and I can’t see how some like this draft better. Another thing, it’s hard to find video on some euro guys so far like always so my bad if I’m missing some worthy guys. This is only from what I’ve seen so far from the guys I’ve watched or seen quite a bit of

These are my top 217 rankings. They are my own. I watch a lot of hockey. I read a lot(and I have certain people's opinions that I take into account), but these rankings are from my own observations. This is the order I would draft these guys in without considering need, tendencies, etc. Please feel free to comment(I may not have seen every player - and I also don't get to watch every player multiple times, so if they have a poor game when I see them, it's unlikely they'll have a high...

I spent the year watching hundreds of hours of these prospects in actual games. At the very least, I’m just trying to give my take. I operated on the simple idea: set up a board as I see it for who I think projects as the best NHL players. I have a few international blind spots that I did my best with, but this isn't a true "draft ranking" so much as my personal board.

These are the results of the 2018 mock draft done by the team boards of HF. Every fan base selected the player they would want to draft based on who was still available.
I firmly believe that this software can be a useful tool to support the evaluation of prospects, in fact, I would even go as far as to say that it has the potential to give better results than the standard way of evaluating players.
I've seen quite a few discussions lately about whether or not the Wings should target a defenseman with the 6th OA pick. While it seems like the consensus is that people prefer a defenseman, there seems to be a disconnect whether or not it's crucial that they do so, with some people being perfectly fine with picking a forward.
I've long been under the impression that it would be absolutely crucial for them to pick a defenseman with the 6th pick, because I've always thought that top pairing...
My annual preview of draft-eligible Russian prospects has arrived. At the beginning of the season I made a statement that this is a "boom or bust" year and actually I think I rarely have been as precise as that time.
The Montreal fans on HF conducted an extensive 7-round mock draft, here are the results.
As my 2nd last ranking, I can say that this is one of my favorite classes ever. I love some of the plays and think there are some real dark horse players in here. Next month for my final ranking, it will include and in depth write up on all 217 of my projected draft picks. Enjoy, and as always feel free to ask any questions.

3 months away from draft time! This is when it starts to get exciting folks. The next edition should be May, and should also come with a mock draft post lottery! As always, let me know what you think, and who you think should be higher, after all, we’re all different people and therefore see different things.

Nowadays we often hear people say they dont want to see their team draft a goalie high in the first round (or even in the first round, period). Because they are so hard to project, it's basically a wasted pick. Many goalies drafted in the first round end up busting hard, while a lot of goalies drafted later end up having NHL success (Rinne, Halak, Lundqvist, etc).
I find it weird because the only thing that matters for a goalie is: can he stop the puck? So all the scouts have to do is find...
This year is a strong year for the Americans overall. I can see anywhere from 6-8 players taken in the first round (4 possibly top 10-12) and a strong second round as well that should add another 8-10 names possibly getting their names called in June.
Separate names with a comma.
