1-Rasmus Dahlin, Buffalo, 1st overall in 2018 Rasmus is a defender with franchise level impact, he should fit in right away on the Sabres top pair, may need to be eased in on the PP time and defensively as he is still very thin and will need to fill out before being able to match up with every forward, should have a comparable impact to Auston Matthews in his first year. He will not be on this list for long, essentially already a NHL player. 2-Andrei Svechnikov Carolina, 2nd overall in 2018...
These are my top 217 rankings. They are my own. I watch a lot of hockey. I read a lot(and I have certain people's opinions that I take into account), but these rankings are from my own observations. This is the order I would draft these guys in without considering need, tendencies, etc. Please feel free to comment(I may not have seen every player - and I also don't get to watch every player multiple times, so if they have a poor game when I see them, it's unlikely they'll have a high...

September sees the start of leagues and the start of hockey again! Thankfully I've gotten my list in better order to start the season than the last few years. Defensemen have had their handedness added for convenience. 1. C Jack Hughes 2. RW Kaapo Kakko 3. C Alex Turcotte 4. LW Alex Newhook 5. C Dylan Cozens 6. C Kirby Dach 7. LD Bowen Byram 8. Let's start discussing the rankings for 2021. IMO Stankoven has all the tools to be the 1st overall pick ; Logan is a very fast skater, strong edges, quick hands, heavy wrist shot, and an extremely hard worker. Stankoven is comparable to Nathan MacKinnon with his amazing puck skills at high speed. Let's dissect this you animals. 1. Logan Stankoven, C (WHL) 2. Aatu Raty, LW (Finland) 3. Matthew Beniers, C (NTDP) 4. Luke Hughes, D (NTDP) 5. Zach L'Heureux, F (QMJHL) 6. Carson...
1. NJD Jack Hughes | The HH duo is the best the franchise has ever had. 2. NYR Kaapo Kakko | Their run on European's continue. I think he'll be a Center in the league. 3. CHI Alex Turcotte | Strome and Turcotte is the 1-2 punch down the middle for the next decade. 4. COL via OTT Dylan Cozens | MacKinnon-Cozens is the 1-2 punch they've needed since Sakic-Forsberg. 5. LA Kirby Dach | Dach-Vilardi-Kupari is a trio you can build around. 6. DET Bowen Byram | The Wings get their #1 dman...
As a bit of a goal this year, I've decided to throw up some early write-ups based on my notes so far throughout the year. Here they are, so let me know what ya think. 1. C Jack Hughes - U18’s, USNTDP A dynamic offensive player with electrifying skill who plays a smart and deceptive game, using his shifty skill to fool defenders and push the pace with strong vision and a good shot. 2. RW Kaapo Kakko - TPS, Liiga Speedy Finnish winger whos dazzles off the wing with a skillful offensive...
At this point last year, my rankings were only 100 players long, so the progression in terms of evening out my viewings has been good. As always, open to any questions or comments. If you think I'm missing someone, let me know and I'll try to focus on them next month. 1. RW Kaapo Kakko - TPS, Liiga 2. C Jack Hughes - U18’s, USNTDP 3. C Kirby Dach - Saskatoon Blades, WHL 4. C/RW Dylan Cozens - Lethbridge Hurricanes, WHL 5. LW Alex Newhook - Victoria Grizzlies, BCHL 6. RW Vasili Podkolzin -...

Been working on this a while and I think this is the first list I’ve posted that I’m 100% sure about atm This draft is stacked and aside from Dahlin, I like this draft’s 1st round better than 2018’s. Not a fan of the depth in the 2019 class though, 2018’s 2nd-4th round was very good and I even said that I think 2018’s 2nd round will be one of the best in a long time. Can’t say the same about 2019’s 2nd round though time will tell Jack Hughes Alex Newhook Kaapo Kakko Kirby Dach Philipp...
I was hoping to get this posted a month ago before the swarm of rankings and mock drafts, but couldn't find the time to finish it. 1) Jack Hughes: Difficult decision at #1 this year. I've had Hughes in #1 for longer periods this year, so I've kept him there for the rankings. His competitiveness reminds me of Sidney Crosby, while a lot of other elements of his game trigger memories of Patrick Kane. 2) Kaapo Kakko: Kakko is #2 because 1 of the 2 had to be. But I've flip-flopped Kakko and...
Jack Hughes Kaapo Kakko Kirby Dach Alex Newhook Anttoni Honka Dylan Cozens Vasili Podkolzin Victor Soderstrom Alex Turcotte Raphael Lavoie Matthew Boldy Trevor Zegras Cole Caufield Bowen Byram Ryan Suzuki Moritz Seider Arthur Kaliyev Pavel Dorofeyev Peyton Krebs Matthew Robertson Daniil Gutik Philipp Broberg Simon Holmstrom Cam York Connor McMichael John Beecher Kaeden Korczak Yegor Spiridonov Nils Hoglander Lassi Thomson Blake Murray Thomas Harley Case McCarthy Nicholas Porco Yegor...
Kakko has surpassed Hughes for me for the 2nd time this year. My list for this year seems to be settling, earlier this year I wasn’t confident of my 1st round and was always shuffling around players but lately it’s pretty compact. I don’t see much changing soon unless I’m blown away by a prospect. At this point I think I can give a good scouting report for any prospect in my top 100 and a few past that. Haven’t had as much time lately to watch games Anyways, Kaapo Kakko Jack Hughes Kirby...

Vasili Podkolzin - St. Petersberg, VHL - RW - 6'1 - 190 9. Peyton Krebs - Kootenay, WHL - LC - 5'11 - 181 10. Ryan Suzuki -...
Hello everyone. Been a member for almost two years now and I really enjoy the HF community. I'd like to show you my post-WJC January ranking for the 2019 eligible hockey prospects. Here's what I look in a prospect: 1- Personal scouting (a whole game or shift by shift) 2- Pro scouting (read report) 3- League played 4- Stats 5- Context (Position, playing time, teammate, environment, coach, etc) 6- Progression 7- HF members scouting 8- NHL position/role projection (ex: 1st line center, stay...
Let me start off by saying I don’t think this is a good draft like a lot of people seem to think. I think it’s about average but I’m not a huge fan so far. The 2018 draft was stacked and I can’t see how some like this draft better. Another thing, it’s hard to find video on some euro guys so far like always so my bad if I’m missing some worthy guys. This is only from what I’ve seen so far from the guys I’ve watched or seen quite a bit of Jack Hughes Kaapo Kakko Alex Newhook Alex Turcotte...
Was initially going to wait until after WJC to post my next list but I feel there’s been so much movement for me that I should update it Here’s my last list *Goalies are not ranked Some recent notes 1. If Dach had more hustle/effort he’d really push Kakko for my 2 spot. The top 3 are all very close, Dach is closer to Hughes than he is to Cozens imo 2. Yes I still have Honka and Newhook that high. I can understand people’s reasoning for dropping Honka but I think he’ll turn it around, kid...
After a long year, it's finally time for my annual draft rankings. In order to avoid a nearly 10,000 word OP, I've included scouting reports for my top 31 on this post and the rest I've done can be viewed at my website at 2019 NHL Draft Final Rankings I've had at least one viewing of each of the players on this list throughout the year. Thanks for the continued support, here's my previous annual rankings for laughs - 2018 Final Rankings:...

2019 NHL Mock Draft 1. New Jersey Devils - Jack Hughes This is a no-brainer. With New Jersey, the are holes everywhere and for them it is about taking the best player available. Hughes is a 5’10, 168 lbs centre who could play on the wing as well. He is a crafty playmaker with an elite skating ability, elite hockey sense and elite puck handling ability. With the US U18 National Team he put up 86 points in just 41 games. NHL Comparison: Mitch Marner 2. New York Rangers - Kaapo Kakko Another...

Last year I wrote a similar but shorter Hlinka write-up for the Flyers board. Thought I’d share this year's version with you (mostly) fine people. It's in the attached PDF, so you don't have to scroll for 40 days and 40 nights! Been writing this and mulling over the rankings for the last month; obviously prospect watching for longer. I feel reasonably comfortable with where I'm at in my evaluating; maybe the most comfortable in August/September since I've been doing this. If you know me --...
