Prospects

All about the young players preparing to enter the NHL.

Let me start off by saying I don’t think this is a good draft like a lot of people seem to think. I think it’s about average but I’m not a huge fan so far. The 2018 draft was stacked and I can’t see how some like this draft better. Another thing, it’s hard to find video on some euro guys so far like always so my bad if I’m missing some worthy guys. This is only from what I’ve seen so far from the guys I’ve watched or seen quite a bit of Jack Hughes Kaapo Kakko Alex Newhook Alex Turcotte...
Been working on this a while and I think this is the first list I’ve posted that I’m 100% sure about atm This draft is stacked and aside from Dahlin, I like this draft’s 1st round better than 2018’s. Not a fan of the depth in the 2019 class though, 2018’s 2nd-4th round was very good and I even said that I think 2018’s 2nd round will be one of the best in a long time. Can’t say the same about 2019’s 2nd round though time will tell Jack Hughes Alex Newhook Kaapo Kakko Kirby Dach Philipp...
2019 NHL Draft Rankings 1.0 My first rankings of the 2019 NHL Draft Class, and I try to do 3 each year. If you wanna see some of my mock drafts that I have made you can go to my website right -> here <- I really like a lot of the prospects in this years class, and I hope I helped to let you know about some of my favorites. Sorry if my descriptions aren't great, I'm not very good at them, but I continue to try to do them lol. 1. Jack Hughes C U.S National U18 Team (USDP) Although I see some...
2019 NHL Mock Draft 1. New Jersey Devils - Jack Hughes This is a no-brainer. With New Jersey, the are holes everywhere and for them it is about taking the best player available. Hughes is a 5’10, 168 lbs centre who could play on the wing as well. He is a crafty playmaker with an elite skating ability, elite hockey sense and elite puck handling ability. With the US U18 National Team he put up 86 points in just 41 games. NHL Comparison: Mitch Marner 2. New York Rangers - Kaapo Kakko Another...
5 Underrated Prospects Eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft by Puck’s Prospects In no particular order... 1. Cole Caufield Cole Caufield is the most risky pick in this draft. His numbers and stats scream “top 5 pick” but his 5’7, 163 lbs frame scream “don’t take him.” At the U18s he scored 14 goals in 7 games for 18 points which broke Alexander Ovechkin’s record. This season playing beside Hughes he scored 72 goals in 64 games. Caufield is clearly the most pure goal scorer in the draft....
These are my top 217 rankings. They are my own. I watch a lot of hockey. I read a lot(and I have certain people's opinions that I take into account), but these rankings are from my own observations. This is the order I would draft these guys in without considering need, tendencies, etc. Please feel free to comment(I may not have seen every player - and I also don't get to watch every player multiple times, so if they have a poor game when I see them, it's unlikely they'll have a high...
I know its early and this will change and get longer and longer as the season goes on but for now these are my top 55 guys I've watched and read up on of about 75. The other 20 I didn't like enough to put in this ranking yet as I don't see them going in the first three rounds come draft day. It is OHL heavy as a) it's a very strong OHL class and b) I have watched the OHL the most. In my opinion this will be one of the deepest classes in recent memory, especially at the top. 1Alexis...
2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Rosters – Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game 16 from the OHL, 15 from the QMJHL and 9 from the WHL Team 1: Goaltenders: Alexis Gravel (Halifax Moosheads) Kevin Mandolese (Cape Breton Screaming Eagles) Defencemen: Calen Addison (Lethbridge Hurricanes) Kevin Bahl (Ottawa 67’s) Noah Dobson (Acadie-Bathurst Titan) Jared McIsaac (Halifax Mooseheads) Ty Smith (Spokane Chiefs) Jett Woo (Moose Jaw Warriors) Forwards: Luka Burzan (Moose Jaw...
This is really a strong strong draft, each team will have a very different list from the next, from pick 6 on is pretty much going to be totally different for every team with guys in the 2nd round being able to fill in for 1st round.
Here are the top ten drafted prospects as voted on by members. 1. Elias Pettersson - Vancouver Canucks He's just a natural. Great smarts on both ends, awesome hand-eye and passing ability, controls the puck so well. No real electrifying weapons, just so very smart and so gifted, just natural instincts and knack for reading the game and creating chances. I dunno if John Tavares is a reasonable style comparison, but someone like that who hasn't got elite skating or a rocket of a shot but...
Nowadays we often hear people say they dont want to see their team draft a goalie high in the first round (or even in the first round, period). Because they are so hard to project, it's basically a wasted pick. Many goalies drafted in the first round end up busting hard, while a lot of goalies drafted later end up having NHL success (Rinne, Halak, Lundqvist, etc). I find it weird because the only thing that matters for a goalie is: can he stop the puck? So all the scouts have to do is find...
My 2nd draft rankings, and my 3rd and last one will be posted at the beginning of June. For this Ranking, I'm going do a Top 62 (2 Rounds) instead of the Top 50 that I did last time. Find my 1st one here if you wanna see the differences from my December list. 1. Rasmus Dahlin D 2. Andrei Svechikov RW 3. Filip Zadina RW 4. Adam Boqvist D 5. Brady Tkachuk LW/C 6. Evan Bouchard D 7. Quinn Hughes D 8. Noah Dobson D 9. Oliver Wahlstrom RW/C 10. Ty Smith D 11. Joel Farabee LW 12. Joe Veleno C...
The Montreal fans on HF conducted an extensive 7-round mock draft, here are the results.
Grading the first round draft choices of each NHL team.
So here's our top 20. Who in your opinion is ranked too high? Too low? Overall comments?
I was looking at the past two QMJHL drafts and something very interesting came up. During the 2015-16 season four players were permitted to play in Midget AAA in Quebec even though they were still of Bantam age (14 yrs old); Xavier Parent, Samuel Poulin, Xavier Simoneau and Olivier Desroches. It is fun to compare them to their peers now a couple of years later. Parent first caught attention when he killed Pee-Wee AAA posting 113 points in 30 regular season games and was even dubbed the...
Was initially going to wait until after WJC to post my next list but I feel there’s been so much movement for me that I should update it Here’s my last list *Goalies are not ranked Some recent notes 1. If Dach had more hustle/effort he’d really push Kakko for my 2 spot. The top 3 are all very close, Dach is closer to Hughes than he is to Cozens imo 2. Yes I still have Honka and Newhook that high. I can understand people’s reasoning for dropping Honka but I think he’ll turn it around, kid...
Hello everyone. Been a member for almost two years now and I really enjoy the HF community. I'd like to show you my post-WJC January ranking for the 2019 eligible hockey prospects. Here's what I look in a prospect: 1- Personal scouting (a whole game or shift by shift) 2- Pro scouting (read report) 3- League played 4- Stats 5- Context (Position, playing time, teammate, environment, coach, etc) 6- Progression 7- HF members scouting 8- NHL position/role projection (ex: 1st line center, stay...

1. NJD Jack Hughes | The HH duo is the best the franchise has ever had. 2. NYR Kaapo Kakko | Their run on European's continue. I think he'll be a Center in the league. 3. CHI Alex Turcotte | Strome and Turcotte is the 1-2 punch down the middle for the next decade. 4. COL via OTT Dylan Cozens | MacKinnon-Cozens is the 1-2 punch they've needed since Sakic-Forsberg. 5. LA Kirby Dach | Dach-Vilardi-Kupari is a trio you can build around. 6. DET Bowen Byram | The Wings get their #1 dman...
Let's start discussing the rankings for 2021. IMO Stankoven has all the tools to be the 1st overall pick ; Logan is a very fast skater, strong edges, quick hands, heavy wrist shot, and an extremely hard worker. Stankoven is comparable to Nathan MacKinnon with his amazing puck skills at high speed. Let's dissect this you animals. 1. Logan Stankoven, C (WHL) 2. Aatu Raty, LW (Finland) 3. Matthew Beniers, C (NTDP) 4. Luke Hughes, D (NTDP) 5. Zach L'Heureux, F (QMJHL) 6. Carson...
