Minnesota thought they were going to beat the market with those twin contracts (no pun intended) but I think everyone else was waiting for the train wreck

The better question is, what would Minny give up to get rid of him? With the term as long as it is, Minny is either retaining 50-75% of that contract and adding a top six player to the offer, or any deal is a hell no-go.

The contract is unmovable, at least in the short term. It is heavily front-loaded though, so the final 3 years only pay a total of $4m in salary. They’d find a taker for that. The problem is that Parise has a full NMC and might not be willing to accept a trade from his home team to the uncompetitive team that would be interested.
