Athletes lose about 50% of their income after everything, McCutchen's leaked paycheck shed a lot of light on it

Would it be legal for Hasso to buy a complex and rent it out only to Cuda players for like $500 a month, or some nominal price. Nothing about the Cuda on paper but chose to not rent to anyone else and charge what he wants

Everyone in California will lose 30%+ of their income after everything. Athletes still make a good chunk more than the average population and there's no reason Haley would need roommates to be able to afford living in the Bay, unless he's stupid with his money. Again, Yurtaikin is a different story. While 70k pre-tax is still enough to get by in the Bay without roommates, he won't be living as comfortably as he hoped, and it's a smart move to leave and maximize your earning potential especially if he knows he's at a dead-end job here.

Can't really see why not, at least from a real-estate perspective. Should be similar to Lemieux letting Crosby live with him, but at a larger scale.

I would expect it is legal, but the difference is it is the team hosting it, which may lead to cap circumvention concerns.

No cap in the AHL. They might have to do something if the player is called up to the Sharks.
Technically, AHL players on NHL contracts are still subject to NHL salary cap constraints. Obviously, the gain to the player would likely not be the difference between ELC/league min and the bury limit, but it might still cause issue because it would be the team paying a player on NHL outside of what is due in his league compliant contract.
