Cory made a lot of really good saves too, along with his gaffes. Trouble was we couldn't handle their size in our end, and backed in, and they just kept throwing the puck at Cory through the the traffic. About a dozen of his saves were good ones finding pucks in traffic in that situation. Then they got a couple of bounces, law of averages. Problem was our very poor structure at least as much as Cory. And then McDavid won the game for them with three passes, two of which we just looked at.
Going down the road, we are going to have to learn to handle big, heavy, slow teams that muscle us in our own end. That means probably using our speed more, not less. It means more of the kids, less of Boyle, Hayes, etc. Go with speed and pace to beat size.
