Despite what people think of him now, Lafreniere should probably make team canada. He was dominant in that tournament.
You're right, I meant to have him there but then he got lost in the shuffle. Good call.

You wouldn't be able to fit this team in the NHL under the cap. US Players get paid!

Too many good options on Canada to waste a selection on him. Others have had better tournaments as well. Same reason you don’t see Brayden Schenn, Cody Hodgson, Max Domi, or Anthony Duclair on here.

Disagree I think laf was by far the best at that tournament. He was making the other players look like children.

No idea where you'd fit him but Kessel was so much fun to watch for me at his Juniors. 2005 ish.
Phil ran into those Juggernaut Russia (Malkin and Ovechkin) and Canada teams. Could have included Kessel but it was tough to come up with my team. Left a bunch of players off between 2004-2024.

A different take on it - an all-time Canadian team comprised of players who never reached stardom in the NHL, beginning in ~1990. Emphasis on key players on gold medal teams.

Chyzowski (90) - Hodsgon (09) - Harvey (94, 95)
Dawes (04, 05) - Murray (94, 95) - Stewart (04, 05)
Daze (05) - Dube (96, 97) - Craig (90, 91)
Downie (06, 07) - McCauley (96, 97) - Rice (90, 91)

Rivers (95) - Bourdon (06, 07)
Parent (06, 07) - Tully (93, 94)
Slaney (91, 92) - Baumgartner (95, 96)

Storr (94, 95)
Legace (03)

Bench:
F - Botterill (94, 95, 96)
F - Gendron (93, 94)
F - Tkaczuk (98, 99)
D - Colaiacovo (02, 03)
D - Jackman (00, 01)
G - Fiset (90)

How can anyone propose a Canadian team without Gretzky on it? Eric Daze and Marty Murray, both from the ‘95 team, should also be on it. And, of course, Bedard.
