I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for hockey road trippers. Places we can give info on air fare flash sales, hotels, things to do, etc for planning a road trip.

For today only, October 31st, Air Canada is having a 20% off sale. Tilted things in my favor for booking the western Canada trip the Isles are on starting March 10th.

Also could be helpful for anyone planning to fly up to Montreal for our game on March 28th.

Thanks for the heads up. Air Canada is still pretty expensive for that Montreal weekend. I'm pretty sure we're gonna hit that game. Will need age appropriate recommendations for Montreal. As far as I know, there's absolutely nothing to do there for a 12 and 9 year old.

Cigarettes, weed and clubs where girls show off their boobies.

I also know some great cigar bars too.

The casino and the Che Paree isn’t it?

The fare on the Friday before the game was $125 which is palatable. Going back to LGA on Sunday their lowest price was $168 which was meh. Just writing that off to the fact that it’s a Sunday morning flight and that’s an expensive day to travel. Even with their 20% discount.

One thing I loved last year when I went up there was the tour of Bell Centre. Maybe your 12 year old might enjoy it.

Yeah that is cool. I'd recommend that as well. Pair that with a visit to one of the boobie clubs and your pre-teen will have a great afternoon.

We took a tour of Busch stadium last year when we were in St. Louis - both boys loved it. I am going to try and do that with every stadium we can.

It was basically for all the Islander fans who were in town that weekend.

If you have specific questions re: Calgary or Edmonton, feel free to ask me. I've done that trip a couple times, and have gone to Calgary another half dozen times besides that (though I almost always stay in Banff out there), so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

Anybody have any experience buying tickets for games at the Bell Centre? I took a look at Stubhub, had some minor relief that the tickets were listed in Canadian but its still pretty pricey. Is Stubhub the only way to go or is there another avenue I should look at?

Also, I've heard the uppers are ridiculously high - should I stay away from those? I'll have my two sons with me and they're relatively spoiled when it comes to seats at hockey games (a function of being an Islander fan where our tickets are dirt cheap).

The uppers at Bell Centre are horrendous. Avoid them at all costs.

Habs tix in general are expensive. If you’re going up there for a Saturday night game expect to pay over $200 for a ticket in the lower bowl. Doesn’t really matter the outlet you use.

Also of note, I’m pretty sure you will have to create a Canadiens account in order to receive e-tickets. I believe it’s called Club 1926 and your tix will be delivered there. The same as if you were buyng tix to an MLB team to have them delivered to their Ballpark app.
