It was a horrible missed call. I don't think calling back goals that might have been 1 mm offside is the correct solution to a blown call like that though...

No but at least in theory only the obvious ones will get challenged now with the minor penalty attached to it. Can't otherwise discriminate between the hair offside and the foot offside calls for challenge purposes. They either all have to be challengeable or none of them.

Ya, last year was a million times worse. We got burned on this one, but it has been much less of an interruption this season.

3 on 3 puck possession is not going to be too good with the likes of Trav and Greene out there and when Hynes sends out a RW who is not good on faceoffs to take two draws.

But even so Nico & Bratt both had high quality scoring chances and nearly scored.

Wood was dominating puck control all night though. This isn't last season Wood, this is aged and refined Wood.
Hey, I'm in, I won't argue against it.

Not sure if anything else played into it, but Wood did get some PP time last night, which he hasn't gotten much of lately, so perhaps they are looking to expand his role.

How bout.

Wood Zacha Palms
Mojo Zajac Noesen

And maybe go 50/50 on the tough minutes?

No.

It's obvious to me that MoJo has to play with offensive-minded and gifted linemates to fully optimize his game.
Case in point the perfect pass he made to Greene in front of the net last night that Andy was not prepared to accept and tap in the open net.

Trav will botch many nice MoJo passes.

I'd ideally like to see MoJo with Bratt but I understand why Hynes doesn't want to break up that top line right now.

Like I said, I can maybe see the reasoning.

But give him the puck and the opposition is going to back the truck up. He'd be dangerous.

If we get the puck yes, but I could also see us get pinned in with Wood who gets gassed quick since he always goes at 100 MPH every shift.

Catch 22's all over the place.

I again go back to flipping Zacha and Zajac.

Zacha would then be facing much tougher comp(and he's the one fwd who can challenge Zajac's lousy possession #'s this year) but he'd be with more talented linemates. Blackjack brought up the Wood motivation factor, but Palms does play a pretty intense game, and Zacha does need to prove he can play uptempo on his own.

I don't know. I'm OK with keeping lines as is, last night aside, we've been rolling.

Still hate losing to a team like Buffalo. Even the last few years when we were crappy you expect to win these games.

Devils always play down to crappy teams no matter what era(Marty Era/Cory Era) they were in.

Buffalo just seems to have their sucky-ness rub off the team unfortunately.

Was #2 the shot he passed up in OT because that REALLY annoyed me.

Still I liked his game overall. He doesn’t seem to be very good 3 on 3 though. Not the first time I saw him doing questionable **** in OT.

Everyone in New Jersey was screaming at him to shoot but he didn't which was aggravating.

Are you saying the massive increase in goal scoring, and that is the SOLE reason for our rise, is the result of Hynes coaching? I'd call BS.

Using that logic, The NHL might as well eliminate Head Coaches and Coaching staffs from Hockey Teams altogether and only have the players. :dunno:

It really really really pisses me of that a beautiful play/goal and the win were unjustifiably stripped from the team. I know we still got a point but it’s going to be a tough game against the caps on the road in the second half of a back to back. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they lose tomorrow (even if they play well/hard) but now that would mean two straight losses potentially heading into the break. I just get paranoid that a game like this going against the team could snowball. I’m just left dumbfounded with how much influence the league/officials have on game outcomes, it’s ludicrous. Such a beautiful sport that gets regularly **** on by this league.

Look at it this way :

If the Devils lose tomorrow in OT, they'll still be in first place. :sarcasm:

Silver Linings, guitarguy.

Silver Linings....

I don't see how this is conclusive that his back skate is off the ice.

Are you f'n kidding me????

Where the hell is the CONCLUSIVE evidence that he was offsides? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Devils got jobbed, PERIOD.

It still shouldn’t be a challenge at all. Putting it in the coaches hands will always lead to this kind of crap being reviewed.

This wasn’t a cherry pick or anything. It isn’t the type of play that offsides is designed to stop.
