We need one good PP instead of 2 bad ones.

I think it's more likely that JR goes after JM Liles. A scratch in Toronto, they just called up Gardiner in Toronto (and if he plays 3 games, he is waiver eligible), and can probably be obtained relatively cheaply.

Unfortunately, his contract is tough to swallow

Eh, the assets you'd have to trade to get him will further weaken the team elsewhere. Yes, the PP is terrible but the team needs to improve its D with a stay-at-home, physical player and more scoring depth is needed among the top 9 forwards. The team rode a hot first line to the top of the SE division but there are glaring holes in several places.
