They also suck, so they don't have to try and be sneaky and waive them when everyone else does and see if they slip through

It is logical since they aren't going to make the team. But X-man has put in a lot of good service. I think he would have appreciated being kept around to the end - to feel apart of the big club, if only as an injury call up who plays in Laval. I suppose he makes good money and he's paid to do what he does. But I would think including him until the end of camp would have been appreciated by him.
