NHL is apparently getting Frostbite next year.

WWE is on 2K's highest engine already. Same one as NBA. Though I believe they said the graphics are just getting to NBA level this year.

NHL getting frostbite next year? Then I guess that's the next NHL game I'm looking forward to.

I don't even know how frostbite plays. All I know is NHL needs a new engine.

FIFA got it last year, Madden is getting it this year, and NHL next year.

It's a shame they left NHL until last, because as a fan of all 3 games, it'll probably make the biggest difference on the NHL gameplay, due to the speed and pace of hockey compared to the other two.

I'm super stoked for it. I may skip NHL 18 and just stick to Eastside Hockey Manager for the year

Sure.

WWE's issue is they aren't putting enough focus on any certain thing. They go halfway with MyCareer, halfway with online play, halfway with Universe. Instead of going for full boost to say, MyCareer, and then minor improvements to all the other areas.

NHL's issue is that they have blinders on. They are all about HUT every single year. EASHL gets some touch ups, while Be A Pro, and Franchise Mode are left sitting there with minimal changes. Be A Pro shouldn't even be in the game because its just nothing.

However, with the engine, it's pure gameplay, and while both have their warts, both are pretty solid IMO. NHL's engine is just severely outdated, and Frostbite will make everything look better, and run smoother, and increase what can be done. So it'll make it better.

these are all things EA have to design on top of the engine. a new engine isnt a magic fix. all it really is, is a better grounding point for EA to work off. they still need to do the work. I doubt they do it to be honest, the NHL team has been complacent for ages and just treat the NHL series as a little extra income from HUT

Yeah I get what you're saying Seidon, a lot goes into making a good game. I find the WWE 2k gameplay really fun, as someone else said, the games modes all feel half assed. So it is basically a pick up and play game to me, play an exhibition match to kill time with friends or something. It sucks because I would love to see some good career or universe game modes.

I am actually going to get NHL this year even though I dont find the gameplay that good. I am having fun with EASHL 3's though, the game is what it is at this point. Ever since Littman left and Ramjamsingh tookover the series has stalled.

All those things run through the game engine. If the engine is outdated, it will make the gameplay mechanics and the A.I seem worse, because it doesn't run as smooth.

You still need to to build the game on top of it, of course, but the new engine would take what they currently have, and make it seem a thousand times better

no it wont. if you take the existing code and port it onto a new engine the game will feel exactly the friggin same

they need to design a better game. the engine is simply the tool in which to do that

I know they're updating the graphics engine, but the physics seem pretty much the same since like WWE 12.

They're supposed to be taking commentary seriously this year, which should be a big upgrade.

As far as I know. 2K is pretty hush hush with their engines. EA actively promotes them.

the commentary sounds alot more fluid with Graves. I love early 00s Lawler but in the 2k games hes awful. sounds alot better now

Doesn't look like a big improvement, albeit I really liked some of the animations.

And good God, is the commentary ever going to improve? Still awful as ever. I don't get how NBA can have great commentary consistently, yet for WWE, it never improves.

Commentary is ass but somehow better.

Gameplay looks similar which is fine since its excellent minus the bugs. Hopefully they've cut them down.

Royal Rumble has been reworked apparently which is huge. And Survivor Series marches are finally in (8 wrestlers in the ring at once).

Graphics look great too. Lighting is a bit weird at times in the video but everyone playing it says it looks great.

I love RVD so I am looking forward to this game. My only question is how long will I have to wait until he's DLC, since he's in the Super Cena edition and I'm not paying even full price for the game. I'll probably get it around Christmas.
