Good job by Mason's agent to get him a deal where he wasn't taking a pay cut. He made $4.1 on his last deal. I'm sure he isn't happy settling for a 2 year deal though at 29 years old.

Jets fans, you're getting yourselves a very good, very underrated goalie (which tends to happen to goalies when they play for the Flyers thanks to their poor track record in net the past 20 years or so).

The 2 years could end up a blessing since he just came off a bad year.

If he comes off 2 good years and any playoff success, he could be looking at a pay raise.

You guys have the cap space and it's a safe term so what's with the grief

It's from non-Jets fans who don't realize the very basics.

Jets have the cap space, they needed a veteran goalie to play 50ish games and they only wanted to commit to a two year term in case our young goalies (Hellebuyck, Comrie) are ready down the road (Comrie waiver exempt for two years).

It was a perfect contract for us.

If people want to gripe about $1M AAV for some reason, it wouldn't have impacted our team anyways.

But hey, since this isn't the Jets forum, I suppose we have to tolerate the musings of outsiders not operating on complete information. :)
