Would QMJHL be a better fit for St. John's, NL rather then the AHL ?

I know it was tried here before. But I think they had issues with it not being ran proper.

Main problem with the fog devils was the travel costs. Sadly, the 7 poorest teams in the CHL play in the Q, so going to newfoundland a lot is an extra financial burden that is difficult for the league to handle.

You saw a lot of Friday-Saturday double headers with the same team in Newfoundland.

I'd love to see another NFLD based team, I really would, but sadly I don't think it will happen.
