Jon Koncak $13 million over 6 year offer sheet in 1989. It was more than Jordan was making at the time, so wildly inflationary and crippled the Atlanta Hawks against the salary cap for years.

Strange thing is it came out of Detroit who were in their championship run and had Bill Laimbeer starting.

Agreed. I thought about posting that one. He was the first NBA player to make $3 million in one year. He was also the backup center to Moses Malone. Moses was 2nd in scoring to Dominique on the 89-90 Hawks and Koncak scored less than 200 points.
