Just for fun, I put together 2 Canadian Teams...

Team #1
Kariya-Sakic-Iginla
Nash-Thornton-Murray
Morrow-Draper-Maltby
Shanahan-Primeau-Recchi
Extras: Peca, Yzerman, Nolan

Niedermayer-Stevens
Philips- Redden
Bouwmeester-Jovanovski
Extras: McCabe, Regehr

Brodeur
Turco
Belfour

Team #2
Tanguay-Lemieux- Bertuzzi
Smyth-Marleau-St Louis
Cooke-Madden-Doan
Gagne-Richards-Heatley
Extras: Lecavalier, Damphousse, Niewendyk

Pronger-Blake
Brewer-Souray
Foote-Smith
Extras: Aucoin, Stuart

Luongo
Theodore
Giguere

Now you have to admit, those are 2 pretty good teams, they're pretty watered down, but still good enough to win. too bad we couldnt put 2 teams together, but I guess it would make the gold medal game a little boring, I wouldnt know who to cheer for.

anyone else wanna try putting together a 2nd team for their country?

It's quite funny to read all these awesome rosters and then see the German players listed, haha!

I really really hope these teams will have mercy otherwise this tournament could really be ugly for Germany.

I agree completely, Seliger should be there. I also think Hynes should be.

It's Zednik... and he would easily out hustle the likes of Satan and Dvorak to earn ice-time.

Team Russia - perhaps?

Goalies:
Nikolai Khabibulin
Evgeni Nabokov
Ilja Bryzgalov

Defensemen:
Sergei Gonchar
Daniil Markov
Alexei Zhitnik
Boris Mironov
Darius Kasparaitis
Oleg Tverdovsky
Sergei Zubov
Dmitri Yushkevich

Forwards:
Alexei Kovalev
Ilya Kovalchuk
Andrei Nikolishin
Pavel Datsyuk
Viktor Kozlov
Alexander Mogilny
Sergei Fedorov
Artem Chubarov
Sergei Brylin
Vyacheslav Kozlov
Alexei Zhamnov
Oleg Saprykin
Sergei Samsonov
Alexander Frolov
Alexei Yashin

I realize that some of these players may not want to play for Russia, that may change though over the summer with a different coach. I didn´t pick Zherdev for his dispute with the russians, he would have been on my roster otherwise.

Forwards like Morozov, V Bure and Afinogenov had to go in order to make room for defensive and gritty players. The talanted Ovechkin could be a dark horse but I don´t think Pavel Bure ever will come back to play hockey. Malakhov and A Markov were also close of making it, I´ve always liked Malakhov's play and he did have a great tournament (loking at the stats) in Salt Lake City.

Other players...

Goalies:
Maxim Sokolov
Egor Podomatsky

Defensemen:
Vladimir Malakhov
Andrei Markov
Dimitri Kalinin
Alexander Khavanov
Andrei Zyuzin
Vitaly Vishnevski
Alexander Karpovtsev
Alexei Semenov

Forwards:
Nikolai Zherdev
Maxim Afinogenov
Aleksey Morozov
Valeri Bure
Alexander Ovechkin
Maxim Sushinsky
Andrei Kovalenko
Stanislav Chistov
Alexander Korolyuk
Oleg Kvasha
Andrei Nazarov
Igor Korolev
Ivan Novoseltsev
Alexander Semin
Valeri Zelepukin

And why is almost everybody named Alexander, Alexei or Andrei...? ;)
