World Cup: World Cup Prize Money??

I keep hearing that there is 'prize money' involved with the World Cup of Hockey. Most notably, on today's Hockey Central at Noon they mentioned something about the finalists both getting prize money.

This is separate from the 'revenue sharing' that will take place where a certain percentage of revenue will be split amongst everyone in the NHLPA.

$1 million for the winning team, $500,000 for the runner-up.

If it is above and beyond whatever everybody shares, I think it's great.

Just for reference, the now-defunct Victoria Cup, which was a ONE game "Cup" between the winner of the top club competition in Europe and a NHL team, had the same prize money for the winners as this World Cup.

Bettman & Co really cheapened out on this. Whatever doesn't take away from the profits!
